Jacksonville Jaguars 2014 NFL Draft: Caldwell Talks Bridgewater, Manziel

With less than a week to go until the 2014 NFL Draft, pretty much any rumor is fair game. Despite almost everyone ruling out the Jacksonville Jaguars taking a quarterback at number three overall, general manager David Caldwell came out and made some interesting comments about the top quarterbacks in the draft.

Amid conflicting reports about how Bridgewater has performed in private workouts, Caldwell noted how he did a good job. Most people would be pretty shocked to see the Jaguars take Bridgewater at number three, but they have shown more interest at least publicly in Teddy compared to the other quarterbacks.

Caldwell also made some comments about Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, admitting he is probably the guy most ready to come in and contribute right away.

"“Johnny would probably be the one guy you could plug in there sooner rather than later just because his style of play isn’t going to change much from Year 1 to Year 2,” Caldwell said.Asked if offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch would have to change his playbook to suit Manziel’s playing style, Caldwell said: “It wouldn’t be anything where he would have to change it substantially.”"

Johnny Manziel seems like a lock to be a top 10 pick, so Caldwell may just be trying to drum up interest for the signal caller at number three. Whether or not the Jaguars are genuinely interested in Johnny Football, they are at least trying to make it appear that he is a legitimate option in the top 3.
