The Jacksonville Jaguars played two games in London this year, and they can proudly say that they won both after beating the Buffalo Bills 25-20 in Week 5. Maybe the Jags had a bit of an edge because they arrived 10 days ago while the Bills made the trip Friday. Regardless, they proved they were up to the challenge.
After the game, Trevor Lawrence credited the team's ability for better execution and making plays in the clutch for the win. However, he still feels like there are a few things the Jags can work on.
"We cleaned up some things, we executed a little bit better, still not great, "Lawrence told the media. "It's never going to be perfect. This game is an imperfect game, so it's never going to be perfect, but there's definitely things that we need to clean up and continue to clean up still just a little bit sloppy.
"But the difference is we're making the plays when we have to make them in crunch time. The other two games we lost, we didn't do that. When the moment was there, the opportunity slipped. I think that's the biggest difference," Lawrence said.
Penalties — the Jags were flagged eight times — and pass protection are a couple of the issues Lawrence is most likely talking about. But in the end, Jacksonville found a way to win in spite of their mistakes, which is what good teams do. With that in mind, here are three studs and two duds from the Week 5 bout.
3. Jaguars stud vs. the Bills in Week 5: Trevor Lawrence, QB
Trevor Lawrence hasn't at times gotten help from his supporting cast this season. But in Week 5, he showed what he's capable of doing when he does. Even though the protection wasn't optimal, he still had enough time to go through his reads and hit his receivers.

You could argue that Lawrence fumbled three times but that was the result of inefficient protection up front. In fact, he remained unfazed in spite of the Bills pass rush and went 25-of-37 for 315 yards with one interception. On top of that, his 8.5-yard average per throw is the highest he posted this season.
2. Jaguars dud vs. the Bills in Week 5: Cam Robinson, LT
Having Cam Robinson back in the lineup after his four-game suspension to start the season was huge. However, it wasn't a flawless performance. Robinson was responsible for letting defensive end A.J. Epensa through on the Jaguars' last drive of the first half.
Epenesa forced Lawrence to fumble the ball and then proceeded to recover it. At the time, the Jags were on the Bills' 12-yard line and had a chance to score. Had they not turned the ball over, there's a chance they would've gone into halftime with at least three extra points.
In the Jaguars' first possession of the third quarter, Robinson was called for a false start. They ended up punting a few plays later but maybe the drive would've played differently if Robinson hadn't been flagged. Make no mistake, Jacksonville is a better team with Robinson in the fold but he certainly has room for improvement.
2. Jaguars stud vs. the Bills in Week 5: Calvin Ridley, WR
Wide receiver Calvin Ridley began the 2023 season with a bang, hauling in eight receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown in the opener. However, he cooled down the next two games. He kind of bounced back against the Atlanta Falcons (his touchdown reception was a thing of beauty) but it wasn't until Week 5 that he really put it all together.
Against the Bills, Ridley had arguably his best performance of the season, catching seven receptions for 133 yards. That one game against the Houston Texans in which he had two penalties and a couple of dropped passes feels like it happened ages ago.
1. Jaguars dud vs. the Bills in Week 5: Anton Harrison, RT
Anton Harrison was coming off his best performance of the season in Week 5. However, the rookie right tackle couldn't build on last week's success and took a step back against the Buffalo Bills. Although he wasn't particularly dreadful, he was flagged twice, once for offensive holding and the other one for an ineligible downfield pass. Both times, he nullified gains of 10+ yards.
Now, Harrison is experiencing a learning curve, so his regression isn't necessarily surprising. Growth isn't linear and sometimes rookies take a step back after taking a couple in the right direction. That seems to be the case for Harrison, who just made his fifth career start. Expect a few more days like this followed by a few encouraging performances.
1. Jaguars stud vs. the Bills in Week 5: Darious Williams, CB
For a moment, it looked like Darious Williams was going to find himself in the dud column, having allowed a couple plays on the Bills' first scoring drive of the game, including the Stefon Diggs touchdown reception.
However, Williams has a short memory and got better as the game progressed. In the third quarter, he intercepted a pass intended to Diggs that would've put the Bills within scoring defense had it been complete.
Having gotten the ball back, the Jaguars offense then proceeded to march down to the Bills' end zone on a 10-play, 93-yard drive that gave the Jags a brief 18-7 lead. The Bills struck back with a touchdown of their own but that's beside the point.
The bottom line is that Williams had a few mistakes early on but he came up clutch when the Jaguars needed him the most.
