It's usually tells a while the really find out whether a prospect will pan out in the NFL but early signs seem to point towards the Jacksonville Jaguars' making the right decision when they took Oklahoma offensive tackle Anton Harrison with the 227th overall pick in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft.

For starters, the pick wasn't particularly surprising given the news that left tackle Cam Robinson will serve a suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. During the team's pre-draft media availability session, general manager Trent Baalke made it known that Robinson would be ready to go "from a health standpoint" for training camp after suffering a meniscus injury last year.

After learning about Robinson's suspension, Baalke's originally cryptic comments made more sense. Although the news was just revealed, the team's brass must've been informed a while back, so they had enough time to come up with a contingency plan, "Everything plays into the pick", Baalke said when talking to the local media.

What's telling is that the Jags picked Harrison despite the fact that Little can line up at left tackle and they just signed Josh Wells in free agency. Nevertheless, they made it a priority to ensure that Trevor Lawrence stays protected in 2023 and fans and analysts seem to be digging the decision. For proof look no further than some of the Tweets reacting to the selection:

Brandon Thorn of Bleacher Report is one of the best at breaking down collegiate prospects and having his seal of approval bodes well for Harrison and his transition to the NFL. On the other hand, offensive line coach Phil Rauscher knows how to get the most out of his players and the former Oklahoma Sooner should thrive under his tutelage.

You will be hard pressed to find Jaguars fans that didn't like the Harrison pick. In fact, most of the criticism has been centered on the team having to draft an offensive tackle because of the Robinson suspension. However, there's a general sense of excitment around the front office's decision to fortify the trenches and keep Lawrence protected.

Time will tell whether the Jaguars made the right decision but getting praise is definitely a step in the right direction. After all, if they find a 10-year starter and still manage to address other needs with the picks they got when they traded back, there's a strong chance that they'll come out of the draft in great shape to repeat as AFC South champions in 2023.
