The Jacksonville Jaguars will be sending a pair of players to the 2024 NFL Pro Bowl: Outside linebacker Josh Allen and long-snapper Ross Matiscik. They both earn a designation in the first round of voting, making them the Jags' first two players to achieve the feat since 2019.

It's true that both Trevor Lawrence and return specialist Jamal Agnew represented Jacksonville in the Pro Bowl last year. However, they did it as alternates, once other players had dropped from the event. This time though, Allen and Matiscik didn't have to wait for anyone to withdraw to get the cut.

This will be the second time in Allen's career that he was selected, and it's deserved. He just broke Calais Campbell's franchise record for sacks in a season and ranks third in the league with 16.5 with one game to go. In the midst of a contract year, he's taken his level to the next level.

Matiscik, for his part, has consistently performed his job well but he's gotten notoriety for his tackling prowess on special teams. Whereas most specialists shy away from contact, Matiscik has posted eight tackles this season.

As great as it is to see Allen and Matiscik earn a trip to the Pro Bowl, other Jaguars were equally deserving of a designation but were ultimately left out. More specifically, these three were snubbed.

Update: Evan Engram, Logan Cooke, Jamal Agnew, Trevor Larwence, Travis Etienne, and Darious Williams, and Foye Oluokun are Pro Bowl alternates.

3. Foyesade Oluokun, linebacker

Linebacker Foyesade Oluokun has led the league in tackles the past two years and has a realistic shot at achieving the feat for the third straight season. Moreover, he's routinely come through when he's needed the most. His pick 6 against the New Orleans Saints was a huge reason the Jags were able to come out on top in Week 7.

Simply put, Oluokun stacks up favorably against Fred Warner and Bobby Wagner. In fact, you could make the case that both Warner and Wagner got the nod due to name recognition. It also helped that their respective teams are locks to make the playoffs.

2. Darious Williams, cornerback

Players don't have linear arcs. They could be riding high one season and come crumbling the next. In Darious Williams' case, he's had his fair share of highs and lows. Fast forward to the 2023 season, and he's having a banner year. Not only has he tied his career-best for interceptions with four but he's also registered a personal best 19 passes defensed.

If that wasn't enough, Williams returned an interception for a touchdown for the first time in his career in Week 4.

An undrafted free agent in 2018, Williams spent a bit of time with the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Los Angeles Rams. Having settled in LA, Williams worked his way up the roster and became their go-to guy at nickel. His best season with the Rams came in 2020, when he logged four picks and 14 passes defensed in 10 starts.

Although Williams was somewhat underwhelming in 2021, he played well enough to get a three-year contract worth $30 million with the Jags. He had a bit of a shaky start in Jacksonville in 2022 but that was mostly due to playing out of position. While the former UAB Blazer was better suited to play in the boundaries, he started his stint in the slot.

Once Williams moved outside, he fared much better. Realizing that's where he was at his best, the coaching staff left him outside in 2023, and he's rewarded his trust with his a highly productive season. What makes his success more impressive is that he's stepped up in Tyson Campbell's absence.

Campbell was on his way to the top-10 of cornerback in the league last year but injuries have hindered him this year. However, Williams has picked up some of the slack and has low-key become the Jaguars' No. 1 cornerback this season.

Still, it wasn't enough to get Campbell an invitation to the Prow Bowl. Then again, he was always going to have a steep hill to climb to get the nod over the likes of DaRon Bland or Charvarius Ward.

1. Evan Engram, tight end

The 2024 Pro Bowl's most egregious omission might've been that of tight end Evan Engram. He wasn't going to get picked over Travis Kelce. On the other hand, it was a bit odd to see him get passed over in favor of rookie Sam LaPorta.

Nothing against LaPorta but Engram is having a pretty good year, having reached the 100-catch mark in Week 17. It's only the 11th time in league history the feat has been accomplished. Also, Engram's become the Jaguars' most reliable player on offense.

Then again, it's easy to see why Sam Laporta made the Pro Bowl. He's only the fourth player, and the only rookie tight end, to have 80+ receptions, over 800 yards, and nine touchdowns in NFL history.

Odell Beckham, Ja'Marr Chase, and Michael Thomas are the other players on the illustrious and exclusive list. Still, Engram had a strong case himself.

Had Engram made the Pro Bowl, it would've been the second time in his career he was chosen. Back in 2020, he earned a designation as a member of the New York Giants, and he wasn't nearly as productive as he is right now.

That year, he caught 64 receptions for 654 yards with just one touchdown. Meanwhile, he's reeled in 104 catches for 884 years with four touchdowns this season. That should've been enough to help him earn a place in the 2024 Pro Bowl lineup.
