The Jacksonville Jaguars have a very good team. They can contend for the Super Bowl right now if they stay healthy and all of their top players continue to play like top players.
Their offense was outstanding in 2023 and now it is time for them to make sure that their defense matches that level of play.
One way for the Jaguars to make sure that they do that this year is to add another player that can get to the quarterback.
There are plenty of good pass rushers still left on the free-agent list that the Jaguars should be considering. These three make the most sense for them:
1. Leonard Floyd
Leonard Floyd would be perfect for the Jaguars in 2023 and beyond.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a good team but they can become a great team if they can get after the quarterback with some level of regularity.
Leonard Floyd is someone that can help them do that. He was okay with the Chicago Bears but he found a new level to his game with the Los Angeles Rams. Yes, Aaron Donald helped but he learned a lot while playing next to him.
While in LA, Floyd won the Super Bowl. That means he is bringing some level of knowledge that some young players on this defense could absolutely use.
He knows how hard it is to be the last team standing which is exactly what the Jaguars are trying to do this year. An addition like this would be absolutely perfect for the Jaguars if they can find a way to make it happen. Playing for the Jaguars is cool now.
2. Frank Clark
Frank Clark is a great player that makes so much sense for the Jaguars.
It is very obvious that Frank Clark is someone that would really help out the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. He is a very good player that knows how to get to the quarterback of the opposing team.
Of course, the Jaguars need some experience on their team as mentioned with Leonard Floyd. However, Clark has the experience of Floyd times two.
This dude won the Super Bowl twice with the Kansas City Chiefs. He knows how to win at the highest level which is something that can make him valuable as a player. He definitely learned a lot from Andy Reid and that staff.
Clark is going to be in his age 30 season so he might not be the best version of himself physically anymore but he is still a good player in addition to what he brings off the field. This would be an amazing signing for Trent Baalke's crew if they could pull it off.
2. Jadeveon Clowney
Jadeveon Clowney would be a great fit on this AFC South team this time.
The Jacksonville Jaguars used to get their healthy dosage of Jadeveon Clowney back in the day. He was the number one pick overall made by the Houston Texans in 2014.
He played in the AFC South for a long time before he started to have some cups of coffee with other teams around the league. Here we are in 2023 and Clowney is looking for his next NFL home.
Jacksonville makes so much sense for him. He'd get to live in some warm weather again while playing against a bunch of teams that he already knows from being in this division before.
It feels like a no brainer, especially since the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be a contender for a long time.
Adding a solid pass rusher feels like it could be the difference in this team making it to the Super Bowl or not. Hopefully, they are able to do something with that position to round out the football team.
