No. 2 trade the Jacksonville Jaguars can make for TE Darren Waller

As mediocre as the Las Vegas offense was last year, their defense was much worse. Defensive end Maxx Crosby notwithstanding, their front defense lacked playmakers. Veteran Chandler Jones got better as the season progressed but he’s lost a step since earning an All-Pro designation in 2019. Their linebacker corps wasn’t much better and general manager David Ziegler could be looking for as many as five new starters on that side of the ball.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars are stacked at the middle linebacker position and could afford to trade one of them to the Raiders. After drafting Travon Walker first overall last year, general manager Trent Baalke jumped back into the first round and took Devin Lloyd with the No. 27 overall pick. However, Jacksonville wasn’t done drafting linebackers and took Chad Muma in the third round.

Lloyd missed a significant portion of training camp and while he got off to a strong start, he eventually hit a rookie wall and was benched in favor of Muma. The former Wyoming Cowboy made the most of his opportunity and went on to make two starts. However, he also missed two games after suffering an ankle injury.

While Muma showed starting potential, Lloyd should get much better in Year 2 and with Foyesade firmly entrenched in the middle linebacker spot next to him, the Jaguars could easily ship Muma to Las Vegas. Sure, he offers valuable depth but parting ways with him may be worth it if the front office can get a playmaker of Darren Waller’s caliber.
