Ranking 5 toughest QB on the Jaguars schedule in 2022
No. 1 toughest QB the Jaguars will face in 2022 – Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
By now, you may have noticed a trend. Three quarterbacks from the AFC West made the cut and although that might seem a bit biased, the truth is that every club in that division has a pretty good signal-caller. In fact, the Los Angeles Chargers have a rising young star in Justin Herbert. However, the Kansas City Chiefs have the best quarterback not only in the division but in the whole league in Patrick Mahomes. Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans might not agree but that’s not up to debate.
Even in a down year, Mahomes ranks at the top of the league in every meaningful stat and led the Chiefs to the playoffs in 2021 although they went through several stretches. Early in the season, Kansas City had one of the worst defenses in the NFL and Mahomes tried to overcompensate, which didn’t have the desired outcome. But the coaching staff was able to right the ship and they ended up winning 11 of their last 13 games.
Mahomes will no longer throw passes to wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins earlier this year. However, the Chiefs signed Marquez Vales-Scantling in free agency and later used a second-round selection on Skyy Moore in this year’s draft. Moreover, Travis Kelce is still the best tight end in the league, so Mahomes won’t have a shortage of weapons at his disposal.
The Chiefs and Mahomes will present the Jaguars with their toughest challenge in 2022 but that’s one they shouldn’t back down from. It will give them the opportunity to see how much they’ve improved this offseason.
