No. 3 Bengals free agent the Jaguars can sign – Quinton Spain, OG.

The Bengals’ offensive line has gotten the spotlight ahead of the Super Bowl but not for good reasons. The unit allowed quarterback Joe Burrow to get sacked nine times against the Tennessee Titans in the divisional round of the playoffs and has generally struggled to give him optimal protection.

But Cincy’s hog mollies have somehow managed to get the job done and are just hours away (as of this writing) from taking on defensive tackle Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams. Speaking of Donald, the Bengals’ interior offensive line will have their hands full trying to slow down the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Guard Quinton Spain and Tre Hopkins were the only two Bengals starters who gave up a pressure rate below 4.0 percent last season, per Pro Football Focus.

An undrafted free agent in 2015, Spain spent the four seasons of his NFL career with the Tennesse Titans before signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2019. He was cut in the middle of the 2020 season and the Bengals signed him to their practice squad. He was re-signed last offseason and went on to make 16 starts in 2021. Looking back, the decision to bring back the West Virginia product paid off but it may prove to be a bit of a challenge to re-sign him once again this offseason.
