No. 3 player the Jaguars can’t count on in 2022 – Jawaan Taylor, RT.

Nobody will deny Jawaan Tylor has the physical traits to excel at right tackle. What some could question is his inability to get improve. As a rookie, he showed promise and it seemed like he would take a significant leap in his development in Year 2. Instead, he regressed and this season hasn’t been much better. He’s committed 11 penalties and allowed six sacks. He’s on pace to give up fewer pressures (33) than he did in 2020 (58). Still, the Jags probably expected more from him in 2021.

Taylor, a second-round pick in the 2019 draft, has one year left in his rookie deal and the Jags will need to decide what they will do with him. If they re-sign left tackle Cam Robinson and draft Evan Neal first overall, the latter could line up at right tackle. Similarly, if the Jags move on from Robinson they could plug in Neal on the left side and kick Walker Little to the right side.

The Jaguars need to make sure Trevor Lawrence has optimal protection up front and the right side of their offensive line will need upgrades this upcoming season. Trading Taylor could be a possibility but the team’s brass can also have him compete with Little for the starting job at right tackle. One thing is sure, Taylor can no longer take his job for granted and needs to earn it after underperforming in 2021.
