No. 5 gift the Jaguars would love to get – Consistency and stability.

Do you know what’s better than winning? Winning year in and year out. It was great to see the Jaguars make it all the way to the AFC Championship back in 2017 but that trip to the playoffs was an outlier in retrospect, as that was their only winning season over the last ten years.

Say what you want about the New England Patriots. Linebacker Myles Jack wasn’t down but one of the reasons (there are many) they are dislike is that they have consistently won and nothing brings more pleasure than seeing those at the top fail. If the Pats aren’t your cup of tea, how about the Pittsburgh Steelers? Mike Tomlin has his team competing for a playoff spot and has never had a losing season since getting hired in 2007. Other teams, including the Jags, would love that kind of consistency.

Now, you can’t build a successful team overnight. You can just decide you want to stop being bad and things will suddenly change. You need the right people in place and a talented roster to turn your situation around. To the Jags’ credit, they realized hiring Urban Meyer was a bad idea and instead of doubling down on their mistake, they cut ties with the head coach.

You can argue that the Jaguars have a long way to go before they can compete and you will be absolutely right but you have to start somewhere and firing Meyer was the first of many steps they will need to become a successful NFL team.
