3. The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t protect Trevor Lawrence well.

Trevor Lawrence hasn’t always been on target and has either overthrown or underthrown passes. However, his supporting cast isn’t making things easier for him. The former Clemson Tiger was sacked a total of three times in Week 15 and often had to scramble to find time to attempt a throw.

Left tackle Cam Robinson and suffered a neck strain and had to exit the game. Walker Little took his place in the lineup but there wasn’t a significant dropoff in production. The rookie out of Stanford did allow two pressures but he was far from a liability. If Robinson isn’t good to go against the Jets, Little will make his second start of the season.

When Lawrence did have time, his receivers dropped passes that could have given the Jaguars’ a new set of downs. Running back James Robinson also dropped a pass that could’ve moved the chains. Again, Lawrence hasn’t been perfect but it’s unrealistic to expect a rookie quarterback to carry the team on his shoulders. You could make the case the Jags lost as a team in Week 15. It wasn’t just one performance that cost them the game. Instead, they kept racking up mistakes and they couldn’t overcome them in the end.

Hopefully, interim head coach Darrell Bevell will take a look at everything that went wrong against the Texans and will do a better job against New York. While a win may not have a significant impact on the team’s overall record this season, the Jaguars’ locker room could benefit from one in Week 16.
