The Jacksonville Jaguars are off to a bad start in the 2021 NFL regular season, losing to the Houston Texans in Week 1. Sure there are 16 games left in the schedule and they have plenty of time to catch up. Plus, the Tennesse Titans and the Indianapolis Colts also lost in the season opener so not everything is doom and gloom. On the other hand, wouldn’t it have been great if the Jags had started the season with a bang and won the first game of the Urban Meyer era?

While their chances of making the playoffs are currently slim, the Jaguars will surely win more games than last year. The other side of the coin is that the Jags still need more difference/makers.

In spite of all the upgrades the team’s brass made in the offseason, there are several positions that could use a boost. Even the units that got an infusion of talent could still use more playmakers in order to keep up with their AFC South foes and the rest of the league.

On the bright side, the Jags will have plenty of cap space once again regardless of much the spending limit goes up in 2022. They currently have around $31 million, per Over the Cap, which will carry over next offseason.  Moreover, wide receiver DJ Chark might be their only priority free agent in 2022, so they will have plenty of room to sign upper-echelon players next offseason.

Here are five free-agent targets the Jacksonville Jaguars need to pursue in 2022. Keep in mind that they could sign with their current teams at any time but all are currently set to hit the open market.
