Jaguars should look for a blindside blocker in the draft

The Jaguars’ interior offensive line is fairly set but they need to make a big addition at tackle. Cam Robinson and Jawaan Taylor, the 2020 starters, are decent but haven’t done enough to protect against the edge.

The offensive line gave up too many sacks last season (44, tied for seventh-most) and they can’t afford to keep that up in 2021 with an incoming rookie quarterback. They have to invest in protection and can do that within their first few picks of the draft. Depending on how the dominoes fall, their second pick in the first round or their first two picks in the second round will be the sweet spot to add a talented tackle.

Likely available in reach of the Jaguars will be Samuel Cosmi, Jalen Mayfield, Dillon Radunz, and Liam Eichenberg.

Linebacker

The Jaguars could use an additional impact player at linebacker alongside Myles Jack and Joe Schobert. If the Jaguars do become a 3-4 defense, it may depend on where they line up players like Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson.

Linebacker isn’t necessarily a position they have to address early in the draft but it is an area they have to address at some point in the mid-to-late rounds.

Draft Day is less than a month away…

The Jaguars have needed a big turnaround for some time and they finally seem to have their chance. They made some smart initial moves in free agency and will look to continue that success in the draft. So far, the hiring of Urban Meyer is looking like a decent one.

Next. It’s time for Jacksonville Jaguars to sign free-agent DE Ryan Kerrigan. dark
