The Jacksonville Jaguars need to add reinforcements to their safety room.

When discussing the Jaguars’ needs this offseason, the safety position isn’t generally mentioned but it’s one they can’t neglect. Jarrod Wilson should start at one spot, but it’s uncertain who will play next to him. Daniel Thomas, whom the team drafted in 2020, displayed promise and even started two games last season, but Jacksonville still needs to bring in someone else.

Karl Joseph joined the Browns last offseason on a one-year deal. Originally a first-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2016, the safety has dealt with injuries throughout his career, which has stopped him from reaching his full potential. Last season, he played in 14 games and started eight, logging 67 total tackles and four passes defensed.

Against the Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, Joseph came away with an interception that kept the Browns in the game a little longer. The West Virginia product comes with injury red flags and has never played a full 16-game season. However, he’s shown a penchant for making plays when healthy, and the ‘Jags’ could bring him in on a low-risk one-year deal.
