Rex Ryan doesn’t offer much to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Early in his head coaching career, Rex Ryan was able to put some good defenses together, and in his first year with the New York Jets, he reached the AFC Championship. Ryan was just getting started and the Gang Green fell reached the AFC Championship once again in his second year on the job.

As a head coach, Ryan was brash and loud, which made for good television. He famously said that he didn’t want to be second fiddle to the New York Giants and also mentioned that he wasn’t interested in kissing Bill Belichick’s Super Bowl rings. Early in his tenure, he could get away with those kinds of comments became the Jets were winning, but once the losses started to pile up, the bravado wore down.

Ryan would get a second chance and became the head coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2015. However, his defenses, which were some of the best in the NFL early in his career, were now overcomplicated of devoid of results. For that reason, it wasn’t surprising to see the Bills fire him after only two years. He’s been a TV analyst since then and hasn’t shown any indication he’s updated his head-coaching resume.
