At one time, these two were key contributors for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

By now, you may have noticed a trend. David Caldwell wasn’t very good at drafting playmakers and when he did select talented players, he couldn’t keep them beyond their rookie contract. Yannick Ngakoue wasted no time and quickly became a fixture in the Jaguars’ defensive line.

Ngakoue went on to register 37.5 sacks, 105 solo tackles, and 14 forced fumbles in his four-year tenure with the Jaguars. He wanted to get a long-term contract but got the franchise tag in 2020 instead. He made his displeasure known and forced the team to trade him earlier this year.

The Jaguars used 2016’s fifth overall selection on Jalen Ramsey. The Florida State standout had a rookie season and recorded 14 pass deflections, two interceptions, and 55 solo tackles. However, it wasn’t until 2017 when the cornerback took off.

In his sophomore season, Ramsey intercepted four passes, had 17 passes defensed, and made 52 tackles. Moreover, he earned a Pro Bowl designation and a First-Team All-Pro selection. The following season, the Jaguars traded him to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for two first-round selections and a fourth-round pick.
