Rookies Getting Noticed

Finally the rookie standout. The Jaguars have many exciting rookies but no one really knows which one will bring huge smiles to everyone’s face.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

I will look at some of our lower draft choices and free agents who I expect to exceed expectations. My first choice as a “rookie” standout is a second-year player, Josh Oliver. His injuries cost him his rookie season but this guy has a lot of potential and could be a starter.

My second choice is Collin Johnson. At 6’6” and 220 pounds, he is a fifth-round pick from Texas.  He has the size, hands, and blocking ability to go across the middle and become a red zone threat.  This is an ideal team for him because the Jacksonville Jaguars are lacking this type of player.

My final rookie star is Shaquille Quarterman, a linebacker from Miami. He was a team captain and four-year starter for Miami. He earned All-ACC honors for four years. He played middle linebacker in Miami and that just happens to be a position of need for the Jaguars.

He is known for his ability to play against the run.

These are my hopes and dreams for training camp and OTAs. If some of these hopes come true the Jaguars could surprise some people in 2020.
