Jacksonville Jaguars Free Agency 2015: 5 Offensive Linemen to Consider
By Luke Sims
3. Chance Warmack, pending Tennessee Titans free agent guard
To say that Chance Warmack hasn’t lived up to his first round selection by the Tennessee Titans would not be entirely unfair. Warmack has not played like a first round selection during his short career and that Titans have chosen not to exercise their fifth-year option on him.
To further confound things, Warmack only managed to play in two games in 2016, which makes his most recent evaluations difficult for teams that may be interested in his potential as a young guard. Prior to 2016, Warmack had missed just two games in his career.
Where the Titans may feel slighted by investing in Warmack and not getting much return, a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars may come away happy with a (relative) bargain player to add to the team. Warmack may not be a flashy signing, but he would instantly bolster the team’s guard position and, assuming he has returned healthy, give some consistency to a role that seemed more like a revolving door in recent years.
If the Jags were to go after Warmack’s services in 2017 free agency, they would be wise to not overpay. Warmack has not been an excellent player during his time in Tennessee and his value should reflect his production with the Titans rather than his potential as a player out of college. That potential is still there, but the Jags don’t need to put up too much compensation until he finally delivers on it.
