Other defensive linemen on the Jacksonville roster

It wasn’t just Smith that should be singled out on the defensive line. Other Jags depth linemen really stepped up in the game against the Bengals, too.

More from Black and Teal

Sen’Derrick Marks

,

Ryan Davis

, and starter

Jared Odrick

all finished with sacks on the defensive line. For a team that needs players to step up and keep the defensive line rotation fresh in order to succeed, this is a good thing to see.

The Jags didn’t always have the opportune matchup against the Bengals and there weren’t perfect pass rushes that dominated offensive linemen, but the group came through when it mattered. Coverage sacks or otherwise, the defensive line looked a lot more cohesive than it has in the past.

The key for the Jags D-Line going forward will be getting the right mix of players in at the right time. Players like Marks and Davis are proven disruptive guys who are also efficient at collapsing the pocket and making plays. They deserve plenty of reps in the coming season.
