Offense

Plus Guys

Brandon Linder: +4.5 Overall, +2.0 Pass Block, +2.3 Run Block

Zane Beadles: +3.5 Overall, +2.0 Pass Block, +1.3 Run Block

Toby Gerhart: +1.5 Overall, +0.6 Pass Block, +0.5 Rush, +0.4 Pass

So much for the offensive line having a bad game. Brandon Linder and Zane Beadles both had terrific games, not allowing any sacks, hurries, or hits, and they did a good job run blocking as well. J.J. Watt‘s statline would indicate a more poor performance along the offensive line, but a majority of the plays he made came against no blockers in protection breakdowns.

Toby Gerhart had a solid day all-around, and he’s going to play a much bigger role now with Denard Robinson out for the season. He’s done a better job as of late catching the ball out of the backfield, now he just needs to put together a solid performance on the ground.

Minus Guys

Cecil Shorts: -3.9 Overall, -4.0 Pass

Blake Bortles: -3.2 Overall, -3.2 Pass

Denard Robinson:  -2.7 Overall, -2.4 Pass, -0.9 Rush

When Cecil Shorts’ agent is shopping his client around this offseason, his tape against the Texans this past Sunday will not be on the highlight reel. He had an awful day all around, dropping 2 passes, and only amassing 3 yards on his 7 targets… 3! He had a rough day and he’s better than what he showed, but he needs to play better down the stretch if he wants to earn a decent contract.

Bortles didn’t have a great game, so his grade is hard to argue against, but I came away encouraged. His first half was more reminiscent of the guy we saw early on in the season who made plays outside the pocket and found guys open downfield. His interception was terrible, but he didn’t have too many bad decisions outside of that. Denard had a rough game, most notably dropping a Bortles pass that would have netted big yardage, and he’s going to have to wait until next year to redeem himself.
