The 2013 NFL Schedule has been announced for all 32 NFL teams but for those of us that love the Jacksonville Jaguars, it’s all about who they face in the division and if they can get a shot at the crown in the first year of their major rebuild. Here at B&T we analyze all angles of the Jaguars and part of that is finding out what the division rivals are doing. Here are all the AFC South division matchups for the 2013 season.

Week 2

Houston Texans vs Tennessee Titans (1:00 PM EST)

Week 4

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts (1:00 PM EST)

Week 9

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans (8:30 PM EST, SNF)

Week 10

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans (1:00 PM EST)

Week 11

Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans (8:25 PM EST, Thursday)

Week 12

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans (1:00 PM EST)

Week 13

Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans (1:00 PM EST)

Week 14

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans (8:45 PM EST, Thursday)

Week 15

Indianapolis Colts vs Houston Texans (1:00 PM EST)

Week 16

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans (1:00 PM EST)

Week 17

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts (1:00 PM EST)

Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans (1:00 PM EST)

The AFC South has most of their division games in the latter half of the season and that will likely decide the fate of the division as a result. Three prime time games are division matchups featuring the Texans twice, the Colts twice, and the Jags and Titans once each. The Jaguars and Titans may play spoiler to either the Colts or Texans in week 17 as both the Titans and Jaguars don’t appear likely to be playoff caliber teams this season.

Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Schedule release is a mini-holiday for those of us that live and breathe football through the year. It’s a time where we can take our Blaine Gabbert’s (now with another year of development under his belt!) and match him up against Aaron Rodgers and pretend that the Jacksonville Jaguars have a chance. It’s the time of year when our 0-0 team has every chance to make the playoffs if all the other 0-0 teams manage to collapse at just the right times in order for the deficiencies on our roster to be overlooked. Knowing the schedule really bring out the hopes and dreams of every NFL fan.

But it’s not coming tomorrow, as stated by NFL Spokesman Greg Aiello when talking to Pro Football Talk. It was initially reported that the schedule would be out on a live special on the NFL Network on April 16th. Now we’re looking at maybe another few weeks until it’s all sorted.

The NFL is a beast of an organization to manage and strength of schedule is a difficult thing to assess when new talent is brought in by every team and old talent changes hands and the head coaches all bring new ideas each year. It’s a job I would approach with anxiety and delicacy. It’s a job I wouldn’t want to have. Thankfully, the task falls to Howard Katz, VP of broadcasting and media operations. He and his staff have their work cut out for him.

“It will not be tomorrow, but it will be in the next week or two,” said Aiello. Personally, take the extra two weeks, it’s a tough job and the people behind it deserve all the time in the world to not mess this up.

For now I’ll sit back and think about how many times AFC South opponents can beat down the decrepit Jags offensive line and hope that Cameron Bradfield suddenly becomes a competent right tackle and Blaine Gabbert really can hang with the best of them.

2013 Jaguars opponents finished 129-125-2 in 2012. Interestingly, the two ties – St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers tied each other once and are both on the Jags’ schedule – give the same weight as one win for both the Bengals and Pats who face teams totally 130-126.
