No need for an introduction. It’s showtime!

1. Luke Joeckel, LT, Texas A&M:

I just can’t see them picking anyone else but Joeckel. He’s a franchise left tackle for your new QB. Brandon Albert can cry Andy Reid a river.

2. Dion Jordan, OLB/DE, Oregon:

The Jaguars need a boost along the defensive line. The unit only collected 20 sacks last season. It’s a stat that’s burned into my head. The Jags do not have an athlete like Jordan on the roster right now, let alone a pass rusher like Jordan.

3.* MIAMI SWAPS FIRST ROUNDERS WITH OAKLAND AND THROWS IN THE 54TH OVERALL PICK.* Eric Fisher, LT, Central Michigan:

Jeff Ireland continues to swing for the fences and gets the tackle the Fins need.

4. Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama:

I don’t buy it. I believe Milliner is a top 5 pick in this year’s draft, and Philadelphia needs fresh faces in a secondary that lost Nnamdi and DRC.

5. Lane Johnson, LT, Oklahoma:

Do the Lions even have someone who can play LT? Riley Reiff will start somewhere along the line. If Detroit gets Johnson here, Reiff can go to RT. I don’t think there’s that much seperation between Fisher and Johnson in the first place.

6. Ezekiel Ansah, OLB/DE, BYU:

The Browns are yet another team transitioning to a 34 and they will need LBs who can stand up and rush the passer. Ansah is the best pass rusher left on the board. When need meets BAP…

7. Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama:

The Cardinals need something along their offensive line, and recently there have been rumblings that Arizona isn’t that unhappy with tackles Levi Brown and Bobbie Massie. Warmack right here would add some push to the interior of their offensive line and that’s putting it lightly.

8. Geno Smith, QB, WVU:

No way they take just Kolb and Jackson to camp. Smith goes to Buffalo.

9. Barkevious Mingo, OLB/DE, LSU:

This is the Jets’ “guy”. I believe this is where Mingo should go. He’ll be a good fit in their scheme.

10. Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah:

Wow look at that. I’m under the impression that the Star created the Sharrif. Now that the heart checks out, Star is once again a top 10 pick.

11. Jonathan Cooper, OG, UNC:

The Chargers need a guard like Cooper. They just need anything along the offensive line, and Cooper is one of the best players in the draft. San Diego gets a steal with this one.

12. Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida:

It’s a good thing Oakland traded back. This was the player they wanted all along, but now they’ve regained the 2nd rounder they lost.

13. D.J. Hayden, CB, Houston:

Hayden has been a very fast riser as of late. He had a very serious heart injury that caused him to fall drastically early on. Anyways he’s healthy now and his talent is obvious. New York gets him at 13 to shore up a secondary that just lost Revis.

14. Xavier Rhodes, CB, FSU:

The Panthers will need someone who can cover the likes of Roddy White, Julio Jones, Marques Colston, and Vincent Jackson. Rhodes isn’t the highest rated player on their board, but they need good cornerbacks.

15. Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia:

Rob Ryan needs outside linebackers in the 34 defense that is now being implemented in NOLA.

16. Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas:

St. Louis is looking pretty barren back there. Vaccaro will address so many issues in their secondary and will shore up the back end of the defense.

17. Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee:

They need more WRs and Patterson is the best one available. They’ll have to have someone who can compliment Antonio Brown which Patterson should do nicely.

18. Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri

The Cowboys are switching to a 43 and currently do not have a true 3 tech. Richardson provides the Boys with a true 43DT.

19. Bjoern Werner, DE, FSU:

The Giants go Dline all the time! Werner will get in on a rotation that already includes J.P.P and Justin Tuck.

20. Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame:

I’m sorry I just can’t see them taking Arthur Brown right here. Instead they get the best TE in the draft to further improve their terrible batch of TEs which should get better in 2013 with Eifert and FA acquistion Bennett.

21. Tavon Austin, WR, WVU:

The Bengals need someone who can draw attention away from AJ Green. Austin could be a weapon for Dalton and this offense that needs more than the Dalton/Green connection.

22. DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson:

Mr. Poop On The Walls himself had yet another workout with St. Louis this week. Despite his fecal art work, he is the “most polished route runner in the draft.” He’s got first round talent and Fisher isn’t afraid to take risks with character.

23. Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington:

Because Minnesota needs CBs. As it stands they have Chris Cook, Josh Robinson, Brandon Burton and AJ Jefferson while losing Antoine Winfield. Trufant will bring a brand new attitude and be a confident corner to a group that seems to lack just it.

24. Jesse Williams, NT, Alabama:

Seems like everyone is switching to a 34…NT is one of the most important positions in the 3-4. Without it, it just crumbles. Williams is one of the only true nose tackles in this draft and he’s a necessity to Indy.

25. Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia:

Right now the Vikings are starting Tyrone McKenzie at MLB who has a career 17 tackles in his 3 year career. Now Ogletree isn’t exactly the picture perfect portrait of a role model, but he does have the athleticism to take over at MLB for the Vikes.

26. Damontre Moore, OLB/DE, Texas A&M:

The Packers are starting Erik Walden at ROLB. They will need an upgrade at that spot. Moore has fallen from grace, but he’s still a borderline first round talent. Green Bay gets him at 26.

27. DJ Fluker, RT, Alabama:

Penciled in starter Derek Newton is recovering from major surgery. They don’t have a lot of depth at this position so they go with the best right tackle available in DJ Fluker.

28. Jonathan Cyprien, S, Florida International:

Mike Adams is 32 and Rahim Moore is Rahim Moore. Cyprien is the type of all around safety that immediately makes this defense better.

29. Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee:

Hunter is a very underrated draft prospect. The Patriots need some WRs…more specifically WRs with size. Hunter is very under the radar, but he has the physical tools and the talent. I like him better than Keenan Allen (injury concerns) and DeAndre Hopkins (Mr. PoopOnTheWalls).

30. Datone Jones, DE, UCLA:

Signing Osi this offseason…well…we’ll just see how it works out, but I’m not a fan of it. The Falcons will need to beef up their pass rush. Jones can get to the QB and will be an immediate upgrade over Kroy Bierman.

31. Eric Reid, S, LSU:

San Fran lost Dashon Goldson to Tampa in free agency. Craig Dahl is not the answer on such an elite unit. Reid offers the type of aggression, versatility and physical play that will fit in perfectly for the 49ers.

32. Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise State:

The Ravens continue the reconstruction of their defensive unit. They will need someone to line up opposite of Ladarius Webb. Webb and Taylor will make a great CB tandem. Taylor has been a very fast riser. In 2012 Boise State finished as the 4th best passing defense and only allowed 3 passing TDs all year. Taylor was a major part of that having broken up 9 passes and getting 4 picks last year. He runs a 4.37 and is a good overall athlete.

What in the world are we gonna do when the draft is over? Enjoy it, folks!

The number two overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft has been a roadblock in mock drafts for many members of the media. With no precedence, it’s difficult to predict which direction David Caldwell and his new regime will go with their first ever selection. Fortunately, Caldwell has noted that the Jags will get a player they want at number two, implying they are down to two players for that selection. Caldwell may have also hinted that they are down to two players at two positions.

It feels like almost a month ago players like Bjoern Werner and Damontre Moore were popular picks for the Jaguars (probably because it was only a month ago). Now these two players are more likely to be the Jaguars’ pick in the second round rather than the first. The draft process is long and arduous, but it changes the landscape significantly over a short period of time. So after months of dissecting every player and every team’s needs, who are the options for the Jags at number two?

Damontre could have done a lot Moore to help his draft stock over the last few months. Yeah, I went there. USA TODAY

Damontre could have done a lot Moore to help his draft stock over the last few months. Yeah, I went there.

One of the positions is almost certainly a DE/OLB of some kind – a pass rusher. While Dion Jordan and Ezekiel Ansah technically play different positions, selecting either one has the same effect of improving the pass rush. Regardless, I believe, as do several others, that one of the two players is Dion Jordan. His versatility as an edge rusher and an every down linebacker is a dream fit for Gus Bradley’s defensive scheme and he would bring much needed athleticism to the Jaguars’ front seven.

The second position the Jaguars are considering is a total crapshoot. Mel Kiper and our own Luke Sims see the Jaguars looking at offensive tackle with their first pick, and the argument for doing so is somewhat compelling. The right tackle position was a total mess last year and Eugene Monroe doesn’t have a long term deal in place. I’m not a big fan of this logic. This move would be an indictment on Eugene Monroe’s ability to be a franchise left tackle. If you draft a tackle at number two, it’s probably because you want to replace Eugene Monroe next year. If not, you’re drafting a right tackle at number two which is a horrendous positional value pick. With the right QB in place, you can win with Monroe as your left tackle. Why artificially create a need at a position that is one of the strongest on your roster?

And good luck trying to tell this guy he’s not a franchise left tackle.

March 13th from his Instagram account: twitter.com/tealtalk/statu…

— Jeremy Nettles (@tealtalk) April 2, 2013

So if it’s not an offensive lineman, what other positions are under consideration? Probably defensive tackle or quarterback. Shariff Floyd or Star Lotulelei would be a good fit in Bradley’s scheme and would significantly improve the interior pass rush. For quarterbacks, the only one I would consider at number two is Geno Smith. I want no part of Matt Barkley or EJ Manuel, and players like Ryan Nassib and Tyler Wilson would be good fits in the second round.

Tyler Wilson would be a terrific pickup in the second round. Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Tyler Wilson would be a terrific pickup in the second round.

In the end, when the Jaguars are on the clock, I think Caldwell will be deciding between Dion Jordan and Geno Smith. If Caldwell and Bradley think Geno Smith can be a franchise quarterback, I have to believe he will be the pick.

But who knows. Who on earth had the Jaguars taking Tyson Alualu, Blaine Gabbert, and Justin Blackmon in the last three drafts? And when the first trade goes down, everyone might as well rip up their mock drafts on Thursday night.

Just a week and a half left, give or take a few days, until the NFL Draft. Mocks are flying out left and right. Will teams focus on needs, will they go with the Best Players Available? The questions and mystery abound, but until the actual thing we don’t really know. Fortunately we can giv you some good guesses here at B&T.

Let’s get to it!

1. Kansas City Chiefs

Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan (Previous Pick: Luke Joeckel, LT, Texas A&M)

Fisher is competing with Luke Joeckel as the top tackle in this year’s draft. While I think there is some space between Joeckel and Fisher, Kansas City may be tempted to go with the guy they think can play either side more effectively while they figure out what to do with Branden Albert.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars

Luke Joeckel, LT, Texas A&M (Previous Pick: Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon)

The Jags don’t seem sold on an offensive lineman at number two overall, but if Joeckel is available they’ll take him. There is a very small chance that Joeckel makes it past the Chiefs, but he’s a talent the Jags won’t let slide to number three.

3. Oakland Raiders

Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida (Previous Pick: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida)

Floyd is a top talent and he should fall to the Raiders after the Jags addressed their interior defensive line in free agency. The Raiders need an upgrade in the middle and Floyd is either the best or second best interior defensive lineman available in the draft. With Star Lotulelei having a heart condition, the Raiders get Floyd.

4. Philadelphia Eagles

Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon (Previous Pick: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan)

The Eagles are in a period of transition and Jordan, as a “tweener,” provides major flexibility as the defense is overhauled. Jordan will excel in whatever system he is put in, he is so athletic.

5. Detroit Lions

Ezekiel Ansah, DE/OLB, BYU (Previous Pick: Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU)

Ansah is a beast and is still growing into football. I think the Lions like what he offers and they will be able to utilize him as a three down player from the get-go. He is an athletic freak and is up to the task transitioning to NFL speed.

6. Cleveland Browns

Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU (Previous Pick: Ezekiel Ansah, DE/OLB)

Whether the Browns can pick up Ansah or Mingo, they’ll get one or the other and they’ll be happy for it. I like Mingo’s speed in the pass rush game but may have a lower ceiling than Ansah. He has a tendency to over-pursue, but he will be a force to be reckoned with after some NFL coaching.

7. Arizona Cardinals

Chance Warmack, G, Alabama (Previous Pick: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama)

Guards should be drafted early if they are good, and Warmack is good. Really good. The Cards could go with someone who would be second or third best at their position along the offensive line or defensive line or they could get the top-rated guard in Warmack. I think they go with Warmack.

8. Buffalo Bills

Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia (Previous Pick: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia)

Kevin Kolb is not the answer. If Bills fans thought they won the lottery by getting Kolb, they’re wrong. Smith will drastically improve the quarterback position for Buffalo and will likely beat Kolb out in competition. They’ll be lucky to see him slide this far and they’ll be happy to take him.

9. New York Jets

Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah (Previous Pick: Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia)

There aren’t any heart issues to worry about after all. Lotulelei may never recover his draft stock, however. The Jets should be pleased to be getting arguably the best defensive tackle in the draft all the way at number nine.

10. Tennessee Titans

Jonathan Cooper, G/C, North Carolina (Previous Pick: Jonathan Cooper, G/C, North Carolina)

Titans general manager Ruston Webster wants a stronger offensive line, and he’ll get it with Cooper. It makes sense to take a talented, versatile interior lineman, especially since the Titans need to find out of Jake Locker really is the future.

11. San Diego Chargers

Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma (Previous Pick: Lane Johnson, OT, Okalahoma)

Philip Rivers is hurting and he isn’t putting up Pro Bowl numbers anymore. The problem lies with the offensive line and not with Rivers. The Chargers need to protect him better and Johnson is a very talented offensive tackle.

12. Miami Dolphins

Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama (Previous Pick: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama)

The Dolphins have a need to upgrade their secondary and Milliner would be a gift at 12. This is an easy choice for a team that spent so much on offense during free agency.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State (Previous Pick: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State)

The Bucs really need defensive back help so don’t be shocked if they trade up to get either a safety or corner to ensure they have a man to fill in the void. But at #13 it wouldn’t be shocking to see them reach for Rhodes. A lot of college teams threw away from Rhodes so his numbers are not as pretty as some other top corner candidates, but the need may be too great for the Bucs to not go after him.

14. Carolina Panthers

Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri (Previous Pick: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida)

Richardson is a commanding force in the middle of the defensive line and that’s exactly what the Panthers need. Carolina was literally run over all last season and Richardson could solve that problem.

15. New Orleans Saints

Bjoern Werner, DE/OLB, Florida State (Previous Pick: Bjoern Werner, DE/OLB, Florida State)

Werner, mocked frequently to teams early in the draft before, has fallen out of favor as of late but is still a premier talent. He isn’t as athletic as his fellow DE/OLB prospects but he plays sound football and is still learning the game. I like what I’ve seen out of him and the Saints need younger pass rushers on defense.

16. St. Louis Rams

Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia (Previous Pick: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia)

There’s no way Austin slips past the Rams. Austin had a superb Pro Day and looks the part of the perfect replacement for free agent casualty Danny Amendola. The Rams will be happy to have one of the best, if not the best, skill players in the draft to help quarterback Sam Bradford.
