Per Ryan O’Halloran’s live chat for the Florida Times-Union, the Jacksonville Jaguars may be rolling out their new-look duds sooner than we thought.  With the Minnesota Vikings (congrats on keeping it under wraps!) and the Miami Dolphins set to “unveil” their new uniforms on draft day, April 25th, the Jags may be able to steal the show by getting theirs in a couple days early on April 23rd.

Whether it’s about framing the conversation of the draft around the Jaguars early or simply because the Jaguars want to get things out of the way for GM Dave Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley as they make their decisions, I can’t wait.  It will be great to see what Nike has done for the Jaguars as they move to more black and gold and move away from team.

There was a potential “leak” of the Dolphins’ and Jaguars’ new jerseys earlier in the month.  The Dolphins have confirmed that the look is the new one with the new logo while the Jags have remained quiet.  The mystery surrounding Jacksonville’s new uniforms persists and will garner some attention early before the draft as a result.  Check out the potential leak here.

New Jaguars and Dolphins uniforms? We don’t know yet, but these images from Twitter user @C_Mitchko are the closest to a solid leak that have seen yet.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to get new uniforms for 2013.  The re-design is to be a complete overhaul to go with the Jaguars’ new logo.  There is now a photo leaked to the internet from the instagram of “sneaker_pimp_simmons” that shows the Jaguars’ and Dolphins’ new uniforms.

We really have no way of knowing if they are legitimate or not because the Dolphins aren’t set to unveil their uniforms or new logo until April 18th.  When the uniforms are finally unveiled, we will know for sure.  For now, I think this looks more like a speculative shot of what the uniforms look like.  To be honest, I quite like it.

Of note is the insert of gold for the Jags.  A little gold will vastly improve on the all black uniforms the team introduced last season.  The “Jags” shield logo is backward on the leaked photo but would be a delight to see incorporated on the official release.

The Dolphins’ new logo and uniform (if legitimate) aren’t much of an upgrade over what they currently have.  It’s nice that they are being updated, but to me it looks like an average lateral move to spark interest but not something that is innovative or marks a departure from the current.

The lone highlight for the Jaguars in their Sunday matchup against the Dolphins was Cecil Shorts III continuing his march 1,000 yards.

The Jaguar passing attack was slightly less anemic than the rushing attack.  Perhaps calling them “attack” is a departure from the truth.  Montell Owens came back to earth after averaging 5.7 yards per carry entering the game.  Owens contributed just 47 yards on 11 carries.  The Jaguars could never control the clock because of the poor running and the game got away from them.  The Dolphins controlled the ball for 34 minutes and never let the Jags find a rhythm.

Ryan Tannehill had a big day with two touchdowns and 220 yards while completing 22 of 28 passes.  He also contributed 52 yards on the ground.  Brian Hartline and Anthony Fasano were the major recipients for Tannehill, totaling 11 receptions for 133.  Fasano and Jorvorskie Lane caught Tannehill’s two touchdowns.  Reggie Bush helped control the clock with 104 rushing yards on 21 carries.

The Jaguars special teams unit was able to limit Marcus Thigpen to only 19 return yards on two kickoff returns.  The highlight of the game for the Jaguars was the play of Justin Blackmon and Shorts.  Shorts finished the game with 101 yards on six receptions.  Blackmon had 93 yards on six receptions.  Both had longs of 30+ with a 30 yard reception for Shorts and a 38 yard reception for Blackmon.

The story of the game was largely the inability of the Jacksonville defense to get the Miami offense off the field.  Tyson Alualu contributed a sack and Jason Babin forced a fumble, but the positives end there.  The Jags were steamrolled by the Dolphins as they found their groove and showed that their rebuild is much further along than the Jaguars’.
