Rashad Jennings cemented himself a spot on the bench with his zero yard performance on Sunday against the Texans. Jennings has struggled in relief of Maurice Jones-Drew after a big offseason in which he was expected to seemlessly fill MJD’s shoes.

Parmele, a running back I thought was out-run by Keith Toston in the offseason, was kept around as depth and for his special teams play earlier in the season. Against Houston he showed that he can run the ball well too. He had 24 carries for 80 yards. With MJD still out with his sprained foot, this move may allow offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski to add more run elements back into the Jaguars game plan. The running game dropped off and became a liability without MJD in the backfield.

Jennings’ season is one that could really hurt him heading to the offseason. He is averaging 2.9 yards per attempt on 77 attempts for 220 yards. This is a vast departure from his 5.5 and 5.2 yards per attempts in 2010 and 2009 which led to the optimism behind the Jaguars during the MJD holdout this offseason.

Without Jennings the offense may click again like it did against the Texans on Sunday.

When you have a quarterback pass for 527 yards, two receivers put up over 200+, and a relief quarterback throwing for four touchdowns and a nice 354 it is easy to overlook the running game.

Entering this game the Texans and Jaguars both leaned toward the running game on offense. Everything changed on Sunday.

Arian Foster had all of 77 yards on 28 carries (2.75 average), Rashad Jennings had zero yards on his three attempts, Jalen Parmele had a better-than expected game with 80 yards on 24 carries (3.3 average) and Justin Forsett looked much better than everyone else with 59 yards on seven carries (8.4 average and a 30 yarder). The Texans actually tied their 136 rushing per game average. It was all overshadowed by the passing attack.

Neither team scored on the ground and the combined 216 rushing yards wasn’t even enough to equal Justin Blackmon’s 236 on the day.

Balance can only go so far in the NFL. This game proved it. The rushing game was completely overlooked on Sunday after it proved to be the difference maker the week before for the Texans. Rather than the tight-defense, ball control, rushing, traditional attack on which both teams are based, the Texans and Jaguars turned to the shootout. It’s a trend that is becoming all too familiar. Rather than seek balance, just seek to outscore.

Today the more traditional AFC South proved that they could do it.

After allowing 38 points in the second half, only putting up a field goal for 60 minutes worth of football, and once again completely sputtering out at home, the blame cannot fall on one person or group, it’s the disgusting amalgamation of sudo-amateur “athletes and coaches” that wear black and teal and they must answer to every fan in Duval County.

In the three home games this season, the Jaguars have lost by a combined score of 105-20. We don’t even average a single touchdown at home! That is unacceptable from a collection of 53 men that call themselves professional football players. I don’t care as much about road games, but losing home games like that is extremely embarrassing. We want The Bank to be a place that opponents fear! A place that they prepare an extra week in advance for because the home team always plays above their abilities every time and find ways to win for their raucous home crowd foaming at the mouth to add another visiting victim to the slew of paupers graves we toss their mangled remains into.

Instead it is a daycare center that visiting teams use to get healthy, pad their stats, and give backups and rookies large amounts of playtime. It is an automatic victory for everyone that comes into our home! This atrocity cannot stand. There is only one way to fix it. SELL OUT EVERY HOME GAME.

The Jaguars need to sell out every game. I don’t want to see a single untarped seat empty. Buy all the Jaguars apparel you can afford (I can’t believe how expensive that stuff is btw), come out in droves, tailgate your face off, and stay until the 4th quarter clock strikes 0:00. And Boo. Boo until you go raspy and then boo some more. Stay absolutely silent when the other team is on offense. Go absolutely nuts when the offense is out there. Do not give this Jaguars team a single moment’s peace. If they are going to hose us, we’ll hose them right back. This is the best way to get the results we want. Why, you may ask?

If the Jags suck and no one goes to the games, we’ll be LA bound in hot minute. We need to support the IDEA of the Jaguars. We need to let Khan, the other 31 owners, Goodell, and ESPN know that Jacksonville is a hell of a place for NFL football. We need to get the point across that the product on the field is no longer acceptable. Fans must band together, arm in arm, and rise up as one to fix this abysmal situation we have on the field. Force major changes and they will come.

VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!!

-LJ
