It has been reported by Scout.com that Peterson is now taking contact in practice.  This is good news for Vikings fans and fantasy team owners across the league, but not very good news for the Jaguars.  It’s always good to beat a team fair and square and the Jags could beat the Vikings with Peterson, but he provides such a weapon – even against top defenses – that the game will be much closer and have a different focus placed on different players and schemes.  He’s the kind of running back, much like Maurice Jones-Drew, that causes fits for defensive coordinators.

While there is no definitive plan from the Vikings, head coach Leslie Frazier, or Peterson himself to use Peterson and for how much in the season opener, there is no doubt that Mike Mularkey and Mel Tucker have taken notice.

It would be nice to see Peterson back on the football field, especially since he and defensive end Jared Allen are the Vikes’ best hope for a return to relevancy.  To AP, get well soon.  To the Jaguars, be prepared for a harder fight if he’s cleared to play in the opener!
