Will Rackley was drafted by our beloved Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round in a trade that gave the San Francisco 49ers pick #’s 80 and 192 for their pick #76. Essentially it took a 6th round pick to move up 4 spots. The Jaguars made this trade to get a player they felt “was a level above” the players still available and if we know anything about Jaguars GM Gene Smith, it’s that he both knows and loves to get linemen.

Rackley will make the conversion from star LT on a team that did not face top-level competition, to a possible starting guard on the Jaguarsas a rookie. Rackley doesn’t seem worreid about the conversion, stating: “It’s just dealing with bigger guys and shorter distances will be the biggest thing. I don’t think I will have too much trouble with that. I wouldn’t necessarily say different mentality. You definitely go in there with a mauler mentality”.

Here is another picture show on something I saw Eben Britton do against the Colts. There were a number of plays I could highlight but I liked this one because in the same play against Miami last year, he whiffed his block. This year, he doesn’t whiff as you will see. Click on any picture to bring it up in clear large detail.

The Jaguar offensive line was not good and not addressed in the off-season. What do the Jaguars see and how will the O-Line look in2010?

Previewing the ’10 Jaguars roster – The offensive line - Black and Teal - Black and Teal - A Jacksonville Jaguars Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

I know nothing happened in free agency or the draft surrounding the offensive line, but I can’t help but think it isn’t settled yet. In fact, I think there is more unknown about the offensive line than the defensive line Zoltan spelled out for us.

The fact was, the offensive line was not very good last year. Missed assignments, missed blocks and confusion led to game losses. Perhaps the worst example was when Eben Britton was leading Maurice Jones Drew around the right end against Miami on the final drive and needed to throw just one block for Maurice to get the first down. He whiffed completely, Maurice went down and the game was effectively over. Eben Britton was easy prey too often on the right side. The team actually took to running to the left behind Vince Manuwai and Eugene Monroe. In the Cleveland game, 4 of the first 5 plays were runs to the left.

Let’s take a deep dive and look at some items of interest…

Page #1: Who failed the most on the offensive line?

Page #2: Who the heck is Kynan Forney?

Page #3: What was that jumbo formation and who are the real players?

Page #4: Projections on the starting lineup.

Let’s get started…
