Jaguars.com writer John Oehser ran into team-great running back Fred Taylor while at the combine and threw some questions his way about what he thought of the changes going on in Jacksonville. Taylor responded well and thinks the tam could very well be on the right track. ”I’ve always been a guy that thought change, to me, is like a breath of fresh air,” said Taylor. He made a point of showing appreciation for the work put in by the guys before new GM Dave Caldwell and new head coach Gus Bradley.

Taylor is particularly pleased with the work that Caldwell has done in the past. “I think some of [Atlanta's] success should blow this way,” Taylor said when talking about the work that Caldwell had done with the Atlanta Falcons. He trusts that Caldwell and owner Shahid Khan are putting together something special in Jacksonville.

One of the major changes for the Jaguars is the new logo. Taylor touched on it when asked by Oehser, “The new logo is fierce. The eyes, they look a little meaner.” He then went on to say that all of that is nice, but really it comes down to winning games. The Jags need to find more success on the field if they hope to be successful.

Success begins with a good roster, but the support of a franchise-great is a nice benefit as well.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have changed their logo and it’s a big departure from the old. Hit the link to check it out for more detail. This is the first time the Jaguars have changed their logo since they had a legal snafu with Jaguar Motor Company when the team initially unveiled its “first” logo. Now, with a new era beginning in Jacksonville, they get logo #2. Here’s a fun graphic courtesy of thesportsdesignblog.com of every change that NFL teams have seen:

Obviously this only goes up to 2010, before Nike started to get their hands on things, but it gives a pretty good picture that the Jags are about due for an overhaul. The Steelers are still rocking a really old logo, but it’s timeless. The new Jaguars logo is not going to be one of those timeless pieces that has no need to be touched up in another 60 years. Hopefully the teams doesn’t become like the Washington Redskins and have to revert to a number of different logos, so let’s hope that the new logo has a little bit of sticking power to go with it’s new spots.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have unveiled their new logo and it’s a pretty big departure from the old. If you like things Jaguar-y and gold, then you should like it. The new logo gives owner Shad Khan a unique stamp on his team, providing a departure from the old (the old logo was in use since 1995) era and into the new. It looks decent and is a pretty big departure from the original, unlike some teams (think Cardinals).

via Jaguars official Facebook.

The changes to the ears, jaw, and color are pretty abrupt. Keeping the teal as the team transitions to more black and gold is nice. The eyes have more depth and are a little more empowered than they were before.

Personally I don’t think this plays as well as the old logo, but then again I’m rather opposed to change. This looks a bit less logo-ish and more accurate/realistic in its structure and more cartoonish in its art. It looks much better in front of the gold above than it does against white. This is the direction the Jaguars are choosing to go though, so we’ll be rooting for them either way.

There is also an alternate to pay homage to the military history of Jacksonville. I think it’s a bit better.

Shield logo for military homage.

The uniforms will be rolled out at a different date, dependent upon the NFL which controls when those will be revealed.

What do you guys think about the new logo?
