The Jacksonville Jaguars have already updated their logo once this season but, if you’re Dave’s Art Locker, it can never be done too many times.  They did every NFL logo like a sir and it looks pretty good.

I don’t know how well that moustache goes with the new “female” Jaguar, but it looks good.  The teeth are an exceptionally good addition as the Jags seek to expand their fanbase in London over the next few seasons.  #Alternatesfor2013  #Londonhomelogo

But you’re not hear to listen to me gripe about the weather where I live.  You’re hear to hear more about the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jags have plans in the works to have the largest video boards in the NFL.  Yes, you heard that right.  We all thought The Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys had the market cornered on giant video boards – everything’s bigger in Texas, apparently.  Well, no more!  At the press conference yesterday, the Jags unveiled a concept to have a video board much, much larger than anything else in the NFL.  The Jags are currently at the lower end of the video board spectrum, but with the planned expansion (dates still pending), the team will be sporting a board that will make people start to wonder if everything really is bigger just in Texas.

The Jags’ new logo hit the world yesterday, and it’s fierce.  At the same press conference where the Jags talked about video boards, they also talked about rebranding.  The team is getting new uniforms for the 2013 season, and with that they are also getting a new logo.  If you think that you don’t like it, I encourage you to spend a few minutes looking at it, take a break, look at it again, then decide that you do like it.  I wasn’t too big of a fan when it was unveiled, but it’s looking better the more I see it.  Big Cat Country did a pretty cool mockup of how it may look.  I’m pretty impressed that it plays better than anticipated.  Personally I think the Jags should keep the logo but try and do something cool with the mouth of the Jaguar on the helmet, like some hockey goalies, but then again I’m from a hockey state.

The 2013 NFL Draft continues to loom closer and closer and armchair GMs are all over the board on this one.  Some want a “two left tackle” set to become the new NFL norm, while others value the need the Jags have at defensive end a bit more.  Whatever is going to happen, someone will probably predict it.  I’m leaning toward the more “obvious” defensive end choice and think the front runner in Bjoern Werner, though there are plenty of other options to be considered as well.

The Jags have had quite a wild ride over the past month and a half and it only looks to continue.  Here’s what’s on the schedule for the near future.

Obviously this only goes up to 2010, before Nike started to get their hands on things, but it gives a pretty good picture that the Jags are about due for an overhaul.  The Steelers are still rocking a really old logo, but it’s timeless.  The new Jaguars logo is not going to be one of those timeless pieces that has no need to be touched up in another 60 years.  Hopefully the teams doesn’t become like the Washington Redskins and have to revert to a number of different logos, so let’s hope that the new logo has a little bit of sticking power to go with it’s new spots.
