To help you set your final lineup this weekend, here are my week 9 fantasy football players to start and sit:

Guys to Start:

QB Ben Roethlisberger, PIT (@ NYG) – Everyone is making a big deal about how Pittsburgh has to travel to New York on the day of the game, but the flight is only an hour long. Expect Big Ben and the rest of the Steelers’ offense to come up big this weekend.

RB Darren McFadden, OAK (vs. TB) – Last week the Raiders finally gave McFadden a steady dose of the rock, as he carried the ball 29 times for 114 yards and also grabbed 4 balls for 23 receiving yards. The more times he touches the ball, the more likely he is to break one loose, so expect him to receive another 20-plus touches this weekend.

WR DeSean Jackson, PHI (@ NO) – D-Jack has had 8 or 9 targets in every game this season and has remained a consistent part of the team’s offense despite their recent struggles. The Saints have been unable to stop anyone defensively, so Jackson should be able to get behind the “Who Dat” secondary at least once this weekend.

TE Owen Daniels, HOU (@ BUF) – Daniels is in the middle of a career season and will have a field day against a struggling Buffalo defense.

Guys to Sit:

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, BUF (vs. HOU) – The Texans’ defense is the scariest in the game and will torment Fitzpatrick all afternoon. Expect Fitzpatrick to once again finish the day with more interceptions than touchdowns.

RB Chris Johnson, TEN (vs. CHI) – Johnson may have put together a couple solid games in a row, but expect him to struggle all day against the phenomenal Chicago defense.

WR Dez Bryant, DAL (@ ATL) – Bryant has a very tough matchup against the Falcons and will likely be slowed by a hip injury that he suffered during the last play of the game last weekend.

TE Jermichael Finley, GB (vs. ARI) – Finley has not caught a touchdown since week one or had over 60 receiving yards since week three, so he should remain on the bench until he shows some signs of fantasy life.

The second week of the fantasy football season is already upon us, so millions of people will be setting their lineups over the next several days. Before hitting the submit button on your lineup, make sure to check out my week 2 fantasy football players to start and sit:

Guys to Start:

QB Andy Dalton, CIN (vs. CLE) – The sophomore will look much better against the depleted Browns’ secondary this weekend.

RB Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG (vs. TB) – Last week Bradshaw showed that he is the new number one back in New York, so expect a giant performance from him against a lack-luster Bucs’ defense.

WR DeSean Jackson, PHI (vs. BAL) – The Ravens’ defensive backs are not getting any younger, so Philadelphia will be utilizing Jackson’s speed all game long.

TE Jared Cook, TEN (@SD) – Cook is an amazing athlete, and the youngster will terrorize the Chargers’ aging linebackers this weekend.

IDP: Kyle Arrington, NE (vs. ARI) – With Arizona likely turning back to Kevin Kolb as the starter this weekend, expect the New England secondary to have more than a couple chances to pick off some passes.

Guys to Sit:

QB Joe Flacco, BAL (@PHI) – After one miracle week, many people have already voted for Flacco into the 2012 Pro Bowl. Just wait until after he plays the aggressive Philadelphia Eagles’ defense until you vote.

RB Jonathan Dwyer, PIT (vs. NYJ) – Dwyer had the best week one performance among all the Pittsburgh running backs. However, it will obviously be a running-back-by-committee offense in the Steel City, so be hesitant to start any of the team’s running backs.

WR Robert Meachem, SD (vs. TEN) – Rivers loves to spread the ball around, but he may not look Meachem’s way too often with standout corner, Jason McCourty, blanketing the new number one receiver.

TE Brandon Pettigrew, DET (@SF) – The “Teachers Pet” will be taken to school this weekend by Patrick Willis and the boys.

IDP: Calais Campbell, ARI – Campbell will have a tough time getting to New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, this weekend.

With the Eagles and the Chiefs taking DeSean Jackson and Dwayne Bowe, respectively, off the market with the franchise tag on Monday the free agency wide receiving market took a slight hit. Wes Welker was the other wide receiver tagged on Monday, though the Jaguars never had a chance of landing the slot star out of New England.

Jackson probably would have clashed with Gene Smith and could have provided locker room drama. The Eagles being unable to come together with Jackson for a long-term deal is evidence that something is off in Philly.

Dwayne Bowe, however, was one of the top free agency prospects for the Jaguars. His ability to play aggressively throughout the game, and his blocking abilities would both translate well with the Jaguars.

There are still a few free agent wide receivers available to the Jaguars come March 13th. Below I’ve listed the potential free agents that the Jaguars may pursue.

Marques Colston (Saints)

Vincent Jackson (Chargers)

Steve Johnson (Bills)

Brandon Lloyd (Rams)

Mario Manningham (Giants)

Of the five players listed above, I find Manningham to be the most likely to end up in Jacksonville. That said, Vincent Jackson would drastically alter the Jaguars’ offense and allow Blaine Gabbert to develop more swiftly with a very good true number one wideout.

Tomorrow we’ll delve into thorough analysis of each potential Jaguar wide receiver to see who may best fit down in Florida.
