The Jaguars recent drafts have been unsexy to say the least. GM Gene picked up a OT, OT, DT in 2009 to start the draft and picked up a DT, DT, DE, DE to start the draft in 2010. Does he know something we don’t? Well, not if you understand football. GM Gene’s philosophy is based on controlling the line of scrimmage and creating an attitude from the outset that will control the tempo of the game.

Any wonder why Chad Henne had a breakout game against Jacksonville?

 When you look at this picture, it becomes very clear why Jacksonville didn’t beat Miami.  Now consider this picture…

 Do you see anything about the two pictures that look similar?  Maybe the fact that the quarterback isn’t being bothered much?  Good guess!   I could show you hundreds of pictures exactly like this one.  In fact, when playing against the Jaguars, anything other than this was a reason to cheer. Not much reason to cheer last year. 

This is the situation that has to change if the Jaguars are to generate any meaningful seasons and chances in the post season.  We pegged our whole draft two seasons ago on fixing this. We pegged our whole draft this season on fixing this. The only difference is the man selecting.  Well, one other difference, a new defensive line coach.
