After allowing 38 points in the second half, only putting up a field goal for 60 minutes worth of football, and once again completely sputtering out at home, the blame cannot fall on one person or group, it’s the disgusting amalgamation of sudo-amateur “athletes and coaches” that wear black and teal and they must answer to every fan in Duval County.

In the three home games this season, the Jaguars have lost by a combined score of 105-20. We don’t even average a single touchdown at home! That is unacceptable from a collection of 53 men that call themselves professional football players. I don’t care as much about road games, but losing home games like that is extremely embarrassing. We want The Bank to be a place that opponents fear! A place that they prepare an extra week in advance for because the home team always plays above their abilities every time and find ways to win for their raucous home crowd foaming at the mouth to add another visiting victim to the slew of paupers graves we toss their mangled remains into.

Instead it is a daycare center that visiting teams use to get healthy, pad their stats, and give backups and rookies large amounts of playtime. It is an automatic victory for everyone that comes into our home! This atrocity cannot stand. There is only one way to fix it. SELL OUT EVERY HOME GAME.

The Jaguars need to sell out every game. I don’t want to see a single untarped seat empty. Buy all the Jaguars apparel you can afford (I can’t believe how expensive that stuff is btw), come out in droves, tailgate your face off, and stay until the 4th quarter clock strikes 0:00. And Boo. Boo until you go raspy and then boo some more. Stay absolutely silent when the other team is on offense. Go absolutely nuts when the offense is out there. Do not give this Jaguars team a single moment’s peace. If they are going to hose us, we’ll hose them right back. This is the best way to get the results we want. Why, you may ask?

If the Jags suck and no one goes to the games, we’ll be LA bound in hot minute. We need to support the IDEA of the Jaguars. We need to let Khan, the other 31 owners, Goodell, and ESPN know that Jacksonville is a hell of a place for NFL football. We need to get the point across that the product on the field is no longer acceptable. Fans must band together, arm in arm, and rise up as one to fix this abysmal situation we have on the field. Force major changes and they will come.

VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!!

In a game that started close, the Jacksonville Jaguars found themselves getting handed a lopsided loss by the Chicago Bears. It all went downhill after a nice first half by the Jags that kept them competitive.

Heading into halftime, Blaine Gabbert actually had slightly better numbers than Jay Cutler. And then things like this seemed to plague him for the final two quarters. Source: Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

At the start of the game things were starting to go right for the Jags. Derek Cox had an interception, they were tied at three to start the second quarter, and the team was driving well into Bears territory when the future loomed through in the form of Corey Wootten. With two minutes left in the first half Wootten got his hand on Gabbert’s arm as he went to throw and the ball bounced directly into Julius Peppers’ waiting hands. While the Bears didn’t score on the final drive of the half, the Jags missed out on what seemed to be their last scoring opportunity.

The second half quickly turned into a mess. A Blaine Gabbert interception was walked in by Charles Tillman, the offense started to stall, and the Bears seemed unable to do any wrong. For the first time this season, Gabbert wasn’t able to get a pass to the endzone. Instead, the Bears’ defensive backs took two picks (Gabbert’s most in a game this season) to the house. Gabbert 10/18 at the half and went on to only complete seven more passes to finish 17/33 for 142 yards (most in the first half) with two interceptions.

MJD has struggled two weeks in a row now. He, and the rest of, are getting tired of the poor offensive showing every week. Source: Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

The Bears played the game they wanted to all day. The defense stuffed Maurice Jones-Drew, limited the Jags receivers – though they played better than anticipated – and forced the Jags to try and pass to win. It was the right move, as the Jags couldn’t seem to move the ball as well as they had in the first half. Gabbert had some poorly thrown balls, there seemed to be miscommunication between him and the receivers, and there simply wasn’t any running room for MJD (12 attempts for 56 yards, 20 of which came on one run).

The Bears defense made it possible for Jay Cutler to relax, and he boosted his passing percentage from 50% in the first half to finish 23/29 for 292 yards, two touchdowns, and his one pick in the first half. Matt Forte could do no wrong in the game and rushed for over 100 yards. Brandon Marshall had over 100 yards receiving and rookie Alshon Jeffery was good enough to demand some attention from the Jags D.

Scoring 28 points in the fourth quarter is a sure way to get a win against a team that hasn’t scored over 23 points in seven games dating back to last season. At the end of it all, the Bears come away with a nice win to keep pace with the Vikings at 4-1 atop the NFC North and the Jags continue to sink with the Titans to 1-4 at the bottom of the AFC South. Both teams head into their respective bye weeks with time to reflect on how the first five weeks of the season have gone.

The Jaguars went into Everbank last Sunday and took a giant dump on the field. It’s been pretty well documented on Black and Teal and several other Jaguar blogs, so no need to revisit it here. Every facet of the game looked like a mess, particularly the two lines. Most disconcerting was that this performance came against one of the worst run defenses in the league, and a defense that had their three top cornerbacks out of the game.

The Bears defense looked pretty damn good Monday night against the Cowboys. Tony Romo looked like he was playing the Canton team with All-Madden mode on. If you want a reminder of what speed at the linebacker position looks like, check out Lance Briggs’ pick-six.

This is the opposite of speed at linebacker. Bruce Kluckhohn-US PRESSWIRE

This is the opposite of speed at linebacker.

For these articles, I generally try to pick out positive facets of the Jags’ roster and make predictions using those facets as a basis. Clearly, the team is making it pretty difficult to write these articles with a positive spin. So I’ve either got to lower my expectations or keep looking like a total fool. Or both. Let’s get to it.

Sep 30, 2012; Jacksonville, FL, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert (11) drops back to pass during the fourth quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals at Everbank Field. Mandatory Credit: Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Blaine Gabbert will continue his streak of games with touchdown passes (5): FACT

Gabbert has thrown a touchdown pass in 5 straight games, going back to week 17 of the 2011 season. That’s something to get excited about, right?

There’s a good chance the Jaguars will be down in this game and have no choice but to pass. Gabbert seems to be fairly serviceable in the red zone (two TDs to Marcedes Lewis) so if the offense can get close, maybe Gabbert can deliver.

Justin Blackmon will have a reception of 20+ yards: FICTION

Justin Blackmon’s deficiencies were pretty well documented pre-draft and they’ve shown up consistently so far in his rookie year. His inability to separate and lack of elite speed has limited his opportunities for big plays – his longest reception of the year went for 14 yards last week against the Bengals.

There are numerous reasons why the Jaguars passing game has sputtered and one of the more recent reviews from Mike Mularkey has been that Blaine needs to be more patient and let routes develop down the field. With such poor protection, it’s hard to see that happening, especially against a stingy Bears defense.

Brandon Marshall will have 100+ yards receiving: FICTION

AJ Green had two really big plays last week where he was actually relatively well covered by Rashean Mathis. The Bengals did a good job taking advantage of the coverage and mistakes in the Jaguars secondary. It sounds like the Jags plan to move Derek Cox around a little more and try to have him on the opposing team’s top receiver more often, but not on every play. If the defense can limit mental lapses (like Chris Prosinski being completely unprepared for the snap…), they should be able to limit the big plays that killed them last week.

The Jaguars will finally get another sack: FACT

The Bears drop back to pass a fairly decent amount. Jay Cutler is a gunslinger and likes to take shots down the field. The Bears offensive line has given up 13 sacks, including 2 last week when they were never really behind. The Jaguars’ defense is at the point where it needs to be creative to get pressure and at some point it needs to lead to a sack. Just one. I’ll honestly be cool with just one this week.

This is the closest I could get to finding a picture of a Jags defensive end getting a sack. Also Andre Smith has lost some weight? Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

This is the closest I could get to finding a picture of a Jags defensive end getting a sack. Also Andre Smith has lost some weight?

It’s hard for me to predict a Jaguars victory with a straight face this week. The Jaguars looked completely overmatched last week and this week’s game against the Bears looks like a similar story. Unless there are significant improvements in individual performance across the board, this is going to be a long season. It’s hard to rationalize a way the Jaguars win this game considering their current state.

What the hell.

Jaguars 23 – Bears 20
