In the first walkthrough snap of Thursday’s public practice, quarterbackBlaine Gabbert lined up wide left, with Robinson at quarterback. He gave the ball to Ace Sanders on an end-around and Sanders then gave it to Gabbert who was moving back toward him. Gabbert threw it to the Robinson on the right.

The wide receivers will be “by committee.” With Justin Blackmon serving a four-game suspension to start the season, a pressing question during OTAs/minicamps was who will fill in the role. Caldwell on Thursday said Shorts has been impressive on the other side, and he said Blackmon’s role likely will be filled by a combination of Ace Sanders, Mohamed Massaquoi and Mike Brown. Caldwell said he has been impressed with Brown this offseason.

Most fans can see that the Jacksonville Jaguars don’t have an ideal quarterback situation right now. There’s of course the old saying that if you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have one – and that might apply to the Jaguars. Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert will reportedly be competing this preseason for the starting job, but many have questioned whether there’s really a competition at all.
