Super Bowl XLVII showcased the NFC champions San Francisco 49ers against the Baltimore Ravens team, AFC’s reigning champs. The game lived up to its promise and was exciting and interesting as the highlight reels. Dubbed as “Super Bro” and “Har Bowl”, it features brothers Jim and John Harbaugh as opposing coaches for both teams. Sibling rivalry certainly added a twist, with the winning coach getting bragging rights over the other for an entire season. It also marked the last game for Raven linebacker Ray Lewis. Considered as the heart and soul of the team, Lewis announced his retirement from the game just before the season started. The game immediately had a festive atmosphere at the start of the kick off. The Super Bowl is considered to be the biggest stage where one can play the game. Not everybody is given the chance to play in this game. One particular player fortunate enough to have reached this milestone is Denmark’s Morten Andersen. Also known as “The Great Dane”, he is the only son of Denmark who has made any relevance to the NFL. Playing his career as a kicker, he holds the distinction of being the all-time leading scorer in NFL history. He is just one of the many Danish sports personalities who have carved a name for himself in the world of professional sports.

Playing the game in New Orleans is just fitting, for the city was once considered as the gaming capital in the United States. Back in the early 1800’s, the Mississippi river served as the main thoroughfare for traders and merchants, attracting many tourists to the area. It was also during this time that it became the hotbed of riverboat casinos. Denmark is also home to some of the world’s most lavish and luxurious casino hotels. Here, one can enjoy playing the game of poker, considered to be the world’s most popular card game. Together with its scenic beauty, it is the ideal spot to have great fun and enjoy a European holiday. But for those who may not have time to go to casinos, online poker sites like Partypoker offers the best online gaming experience. The game of poker experienced a sudden surge of interest at the start of the 21st century largely because of the introduction of online poker sites like partypoker. One just needs to sign up on their website and they can play the game of poker in the comfort of their own home. Playing poker is an activity that you can enjoy doing with family and friends. It is also a venue where one can socialize and meet new people. Partypoker is licensed and regulated by the Danish gaming authority, making sure that the games are fair and operated correctly.

Super Bowl XLVII was an unforgettable and thrilling event. It has attracted much attention worldwide and invoked further interest in the game of American football. Countries like Denmark have taken a liking to the sport in recent years. Ever since Morten Andersen played in Super Bowl XXXII and put the NFL on the map in Denmark, Danish fans have followed the sport and interest in it has skyrocketed. It is clear proof that the sport of American football is becoming a favorite, worldwide.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been something of an afterthought in sports action for the past several years as a pretender that would occasionally masquerade as a marginal contender. The Jack Del Rio era lived on for too many seasons and combined with an ownership of shallow pockets, made the Jaguars a franchise that was considered less than top rate and potentially on the move to Los Angeles.

The Jags finished with a sports betting record of 5-11 in 2011 as Del Rio was fired before the season ended. Despite the bitter and hopeless end there is cause for renewed focus and even optimism as the Jaguars have much needed new ownership, a new president, and a new coach in Mike Mularkey, who was the successful offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons prior to this assignment.

New owner Shahid Kahn has promised to make the Jaguars one of the top franchises in the NFL and believes that Mularkey is one of the key components to making that happen. Kahn insisted that he and Mularkey will be “aiming high” and that has caused an apathetic small market of fans to give the franchise a second look if not a second chance.

Kahn had a well-received “Ready to Rise” fan rally that was a much needed infusion of hope and vision that fans are buying into. With such a great offensive mind as Mularkey set to pair up with top draft choice and 2011 rookie starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert, there is every reason to believe that the Jags can make the next move into true contender status.

Gabbert, as is the case with nearly all rookie quarterbacks in the NFL, struggled with an up and down season in which he finished with a 65.4 QB rating and a 12/11 TD/INT ratio. But nearly everyone gives Gabbert a pass for those numbers as they were based on a poorly conceived offense and inadequate coaching. With Mularkey taking over, it could be that Gabbert could improve. One weapon that will need no further assistance or experience is running back Maurice Jones-Drew who finished with 1606 yards rushing in 2011 and a 4.7 yards per carry average with 8 TD’s. He also caught 43 passes for 374 yards and 3 TD’s to give Gabbert an instant asset to make as the offensive foundation.

The future could be bright for the Jaguars in 2012.
