The Jacksonville Jaguars have been drafting best player available for some time. With starters set at most positions, the Jags can use this draft to find depth for depleted positions.

Here are a few places where new players can make an impact for the Jacksonville Jaguars but still be great value. These players may not fill needs, but they would be strong picks if taken at the right time.

Defensive line

The Jaguars have added through free agency with the signing of Calais Campbell. However the potential to continue to add talent should be reason enough to draft a defensive lineman. The depth in this class ranges from Stanford’s Solomon Thomas to Alabama’s Jonathan Allen in the first round to LSU’s Davon Godchaux or a defensive end like Florida States Demarcus Walker in the later rounds. While the Jags are loaded with talent on the defensive line that shouldn’t stop them from taking this opportunity to add competition.

Wide receiver

Like the defensive line, the Jags wide receivers are a quality group. However with contract extensions and negations forthcoming it would be smart to try to add to the Jags wide receiver arsenal. Texas A&M’s Josh Reynolds and Oklahoma’s Dede Westbrook could add to the talent on the roster in later rounds of the draft. Finding value at the wide receiver position will send a message to the talent all ready on the roster. It will also help to ensure the Jags offense is ready to compete this season and beyond.

Cornerback

The Jags looked to solidify the secondary this offseason by pairing Jalen Ramsey with A.J. Bouye. But having a backup isn’t a bad option. Having someone come in and compete for the nickel position would highlight the team’s new goal of competition and winning. Florida’s Quincy Wilson and Iowa’s Desmond King are two players who can help shore up the value and depth in the secondary.

The Jags have less than a week to finalize their draft plan. Finding value at positions like cornerback and defensive line will only help secure the talent on the team. The Jags have an opportunity to start drafting for value. The front office should take a risk on one of these positions in the later rounds.
