The Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins are working on two separate deals to send Julius Thomas to Miami and Branden Albert to Jacksonville.

The wild trade news surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Miami Dolphins may finally be solidifying. After reports came that the Jaguars were sending tight end Julius Thomas to Miami for left tackle Branden Albert, the news quickly shifted.

Now, after a day of swirling information, it has boiled down to two separate deals for the players. The Dolphins will ship Albert to the Jaguars for a 2018 late-round pick and the Jaguars will ship Thomas to the Dolphins for a 2017 seventh-round pick. This is the kind of player swap organized to make sure that separate deals go through rather than contract stipulations or negotiations holding up the entire deal.

It is important to note that this deal cannot officially be made until the start of the new league year on March ninth.

The deal allows the Jaguars to solidify the left tackle position for the first time since Eugene Monroe manned the spot and to jettison a high-priced under-performing tight end. It’s a strong move in rebuilding the offensive line after years of mismanagement prior to the new Tom Coughlin era.
