In his first five games, Jalen Ramsey has played well against opposing wide receivers.  He is rapidly earning respect around the league.  He could be referred to as Prime Time 2.0!

The original Prime Time, Deion Sanders, made a living as a brash, young shut down cornerback.  Sanders was drafted in the first round, as the fifth pick of the 1989 NFL Draft.  He played at Florida State.

Jalen Ramsey is a brash, young shut down cornerback.  Ramsey was selected in the first round, as the fifth pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.  He played college football at Florida State.  Scary isn’t it?

After five games, it is unfair to compare him to the original Prime Time.  Yet, Ramsey has played well in his first five NFL games.  As a result, he has blanketed some outstanding receivers such as Steve Smith, T.Y. Hilton and Alshon Jeffery.

He was tested early in Chicago.  However in the end, Ramsey broke up the pass preserving the win.  Ramsey must have a short memory, seems like he forgot about the first half.

Jalen Ramsey Faces Amari Cooper On Sunday.

More from Black and Teal

Amari Cooper is the next challenge for Ramsey.  In five games, Cooper has gained over 500 yards on 36 receptions.  Consequently, Ramsey will have to shut Cooper out all day, if possible.

Most NFL offenses throw the back shoulder pass and many use read routes.  Ramsey will have to keep his eyes on Cooper and must resist the temptation of looking back towards the quarterback.

Ramsey and Cooper are similar physically at 6’1 and 210 pounds each.  At the combine, Ramsey’s forty yard time was 4.41 seconds while Cooper’s time was 4.42.  A prime time match up in Jacksonville.

Jalen Ramsey will win the match up on Sunday.  He has all the tools to play for many years in the NFL.  Maybe one day Ramsey will earn the moniker “Prime Time 2.0”.
