The Jacksonville Jaguars had one of the most potent offenses in the NFL in 2015, largely due to the explosive play of two emerging receivers.

When the Jacksonville Jaguars took Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson in the 2nd round of the 2014 NFL Draft, they were hoping they would come out of the draft with 2 stud wide receivers to grow with newly acquired franchise quarterback Blake Bortles. Fast forward to 2016 and the Jaguars certainly have 2 legitimate receivers, but one of them came out of nowhere.

Allen Hurns worked and clawed his way to the starting lineup as an undrafted rookie free agent and he was just rewarded with a big contract extension. While Marqise Lee is still trying to stay healthy and find a role on the team, Hurns and Robinson have become the most dynamic young receiving duo in the league. Beyond those two, the Jaguars have some terrific options in the passing game including Julius Thomas and Rashad Greene.

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com recently decided to rank the top receiving groups in the league and

started his top-4 list off with the Jaguars:

"4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Two years ago, Allen Robinson was an under-the-radar late second-round pick. Allen Hurns was an undrafted rookie trying to make a roster. Julius Thomas was the starting tight end of the Broncos. Now the trio forms one of the best receiving groups in the league, and they should only get better. The most exciting part of this Jaguars team is their potential to stay together with Blake Bortles for a while. The depth, which includes Marqise Lee and Rashad Greene, isn’t as excellent as the rest of the list though."

Rosenthal ranked the Patriots, Redskins, and Cardinals ahead of the Jaguars and I don’t take too much offense to his opinion. The Patriots have two high-end options in Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, the Redskins have a terrific tight end in Jordan Reed along with some good receivers, and the Cardinals have 3 guys at receiver who take over the game at any time.

However, I’d be shocked if the Jaguars aren’t at the top of this list or close after 2016. Robinson and Hurns should only get better, Lee will contribute more if he stays healthy (the same goes for Greene), and Thomas should produce more in his second season with the Jaguars.
