With the secondary possibly now a strength, the Jaguars will continue to bolster other parts of the defense… but are they going to take a risk?

More from Jaguars Draft

The Jacksonville Jaguars are probably still coming off a high considering the sheer luck they encountered on Thursday night when Jalen Ramsey fell to them with the 5th overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, but they need to shake that off quickly and focus on the present. The Jaguars have the 38th overall pick (their second rounder) and they have a chance to take another potential defensive playmaker.

It’s no secret who I want – I’ll be on Cloud 9 if the Jaguars somehow come away with Myles Jack – but the Jaguars have a handful of options that would present immediate upgrades at multiple positions. Jack leads the way, but the Jaguars could opt for a pass rusher like Noah Spence or one of the numerous interior defensive lineman like Jonathan Bullard or Andrew Billings.

It doesn’t stop with the 38th pick however, as the Jaguars will likely have a pool of talented defensive players still available when their turn comes up in the third round with the 69th overall pick.

Lance Zierlein has the Jaguars snagging Jack with the 38th pick:

"Injury concerns have led to his freefall. He’d be a perfect fit here."

He also has the Jaguars adding more juice to the defensive line, taking Javon Hargrave out of South Carolina State with their third round pick. I’d prefer an edge rusher there instead of another interior lineman, especially if someone like Carl Nassib is on the board.

Zierlein isn’t alone on Jack, as Dan Kadar also thinks Jacksonville is the spot for the talented UCLA linebacker.

"The concerns about Jack’s knee are obviously real. Long-term health aside, though, he’s too good of a player right now to pass up if you’re Jacksonville."

The Jaguars have a few teams choosing ahead of them in the 2nd round, but right now it looks like the Jaguars are assured of a solid defensive prospect at number 38.
