Denard Robinson Fantasy Stud

Oh Denard Robinson, how we love you. The Jacksonville Jaguars rode their running back for their first victory of the season. He made every Jaguars fan incredibly happy while simultaneously rewarding all of those fantasy owners who kept him on their teams and kept him active.

….all five of you.

There was really no indication that the Denard Robinson fantasy explosion would happen against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns boast a decent defense and the Jaguars hadn’t been able to run the ball all season long. Yet Robinson was pretty much the only effective offensive player in the entire game. His 127 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown made him immensely valuable to the Jaguars.

Now, can he be just as valuable to your fantasy team?

Well there’s no doubt that Robinson was valuable this week. Can he keep it up, though? Only .4% of fantasy owners have Shoelace on their teams, which means he’ll be available if you think he can replicate his success. As of the time of this writing he has had the second most yards of week seven, just one shy of league leader DeMarco Murray. If he had been given the ball following Telvin Smith’s interception instead of Storm Johnson then he would be tied with Ronnie Tillman for more scores this week (two) as well.

Robinson has earned himself the feature back role while the disappointing Toby Gerhart has been injured. Robinson continues to make the most of his opportunities and it looks like he may finally have some good run blocking in front of him along the offensive line. It may be time for the Denard Robinson fantasy explosion to become a weekly thing.

One day after the Jaguars/Browns game I recommend keeping an eye on Denard Robinson for your fantasy football team. If you’re in desperate need for a running back then picking him up is a no brainer as he has proved worthy of significant touches with the Jaguars and has show he can put up decent yardage and get in the end zone. If you’re weighing Robinson versus another running back on your roster then wait another week and come back to Robinson after a week. I’m calling it now though, Denard Robinson is going to be a fantasy stud.
