Now the Jacksonville Jaguars probably won’t have a Pro Bowl player on their roster in 2014, but if someone is going to make it and then make the even more exclusive All-Pro list, then it just may be punter Bryan Anger.
Or at least that’s what this guy thinks. Over at Fansided.com, writer Patrick Schmidt has proposed Anger in the punter slot for his 2014 All-Pro team. Personally, I couldn’t be more pleased to see Anger make it.
Here’s what Schmidt had to say:
Remember when the Jaguars spent their third round pick on Anger in the draft three years ago and were ridiculed for that pick, especially with Russell Wilson still on the board? Well, Anger is a pretty good punter – he’s no Russell Wilson – but he’s got a big leg and he’s been used so often that he led the league in punt yards last year with 4,338 for a 45.7 yard average and a 40.5 net average. 31 of his 95 punts landed inside the 20-yard line.
I can’t fault Schmidt for his logic. There’s no way that Anger is the “starter” or “weapon” we were promised by former general manager Gene Smith, but he certainly is a damn fine punter. It may just be time for us to start the “Anger All Pro” campaign. As the 2014 campaign develops, everyone else will be able to see that the Jaguars’ punter really is something special. If there was a spot for a punter on my fantasy team, he’d be it!
