Coming off their first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ biggest area of concern presented itself in the form of the interior offensive line. In an attempt to bolster the depth and competition for the center and right guard spot, the Jaguars signed former Houston Texans guard Antoine Caldwell.
Jaguars have signed C Antoine Caldwell and waived/injured C Matt Stankiewitch.

From 2009 to 2012, Caldwell played right guard for the Houston Texans and finished with a positive Pro Football Focus grade in 3 of those season. After an off year in 2012, the Texans let Caldwell go and he latched onto the Buffalo Bills. He didn’t play a snap in 2013, but it looks like the Jaguars think he can work himself into the mix as a backup swing guard. Caldwell is only 28 years old, so there’s reason to believe he has some quality seasons left in him. With the struggles of Mike Brewster at center in the first preseason game, the Jaguars need some insurance in the event they move Jacques McClendon to center.
