The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed Chris Smith to his rookie deal. Smith, a defensive end from Arkansas, was one of the team’s two fifth round selections earlier this month in the NFL Draft. Smith becomes the fourth rookie to sign, joining Luke Bowanko, Storm Johnson and Aaron Colvin. Bowanko signed on Monday, Johnson followed on Tuesday, and now both Colvin and Smith have signed on Wednesday.

Chris Smith is expected to compete for time at the LEO position, and could also see reps at outside linebacker. Smith was taken in the fifth round with the 159th overall pick. He was the second of the Jaguars fifth round selections, following linebacker Telvin Smith from Florida State. Smith does not have prototypical size for the position, but the team likes his length and pass rushing potential.
With Chris Smith’s signing, the Jaguars are now only left with five draft picks left to sign.
