As reported by ESPN’s John Clayton, defensive end Jason Babin has terminated the final two years of his contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars and is now a free agent.

This comes as somewhat of a surprise, since the Jaguars were already looking for pass rushers to pair with Babin and Andre Branch. The team reportedly liked Babin and was hoping to keep him at a reduced rate.
Jaguars wanted Babin back — at a big cut — because they like him around

While Babin could still come back on a cheaper deal, I think he opted out to try and find a bigger contract with some guaranteed money. The market has thinned out a bit with Greg Hardy being tagged and Everson Griffen resigning with the Vikings, but I don’t think he’ll get what he’s looking for.
Babin could re-sign with #Jaguars at some point, especially if they come up empty in free agency.

The Jaguars were already in the market for defensive ends in the draft and free agency, and this all but guarantees some spending over the next few weeks on free agent pass rushers to try and fill out the roster.
