Jacksonville Jaguars Training Camp – Preseason Week 1 Day 3

With two days to go until the Jacksonville Jaguars open the preseason against the Miami Dolphins, the staff is being cautious with bringing some of the younger players back from injury. Cecil Shorts, Jonathan Cyprien, and Justin Blackmon all sat out today and will likely remain out until at least next week.

Head Coach Gus Bradley has been pretty consistent with splitting reps between Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert. Gabbert got the call today with the first team and started out strong.

Matt Scott and Mike Kafka also took turns with the third team. It’ll be interesting to see what the Jaguars do with the backup quarterback position. Without too many reps being given to Kafka or Scott with the second team, we might see the Jaguars keep both Gabbert and Henne. We’ll know a lot more about how this position will be handled after the first couple preseason games.

J.P. Shadrick went ahead and tweeted some of the one-on-one drills with the defensive and offensive lineman.

Maurice Jones-Drew has quietly gone about business in camp and looks like he’ll be in top form to start the season.

David Caldwell’s newly constructed secondary has made a handful of plays on the ball in practices so far and the new players look like a good fit in Bradley’s scheme.

We even got some national acknowledgement on Twitter from Don Banks who said what everyone was thinking.
