Maurice Jones-Drew Battery Arrest: No Charges Filed

Maurice Jones-Drew was at a restaurant in which a security guard was knocked out.  Per the star running back’s agent, MJD was not involved.

While the Jaguars would love it if MJD was actually not charged with battery and was not involved at all, it doesn’t seem that he was so far away that he couldn’t be connected.  That said, punching a security guard and leaving the premises are on opposite ends of the spectrum.  In a statement from MJD’s agent, Jones-Drew will not be charged by the St. Augustine police department for misdemeanor battery, as previously reported.

This would be incredibly good for both the Jaguars and MJD.  Jones-Drew is a leader on the team and is, according to all reports, completely focused on getting back into league-leading form.  He led the league in rushing during the 2011 campaign before having 2013 derailed by an injury.

As the story continues to morph and take a more solid shape, keep checking back here for updates.
