New general manger David Caldwell made the prudent decision to take the sure thing early in Joeckel. Even though Gus Bradley is a a defensive-minded coach, Joeckel was too good to pass up at No. 2 overall because the Jags went into the process with just one proven tackle on their roster in Eugene Monroe. Joeckel will step in on Day 1 as the right tackle and sure things up so Jacksonville can concentrate on other areas.
NFL News notes the Jaguars’ mending of the secondary
‘That was identified early on in the process,” Jags general manager Dave Caldwell said, per The Florida Times-Union’s Ryan O’Halloran. “We’re a system-specific team on defense, and we created some of our own urgency there (by cutting veterans). But we knew it was a good year in the secondary for this draft.’
Tim Tebow to the Jaguars continues to pop up…unfortunately. This time it’s from Forbes
This is where the Jacksonville Jaguars can make a smart business decision and sign Tim Tebow. It would strictly be a business decision, not a football decision. Perhaps the Jaguars could use him at a position other than quarterback. Alternatively, he just takes up a roster spot. Either way, it would be prudent for the Jaguars to consider the idea rather than immediately dismissing it. It would increase national interest in the team, boost merchandise sales and likely add a new base of ticket purchasers.
