18 Jaguar Tryout Invitees

The Jacksonville Jaguars are bringing in 18 players (one down from the previously reported 19) to tryout at their veteran mini-camp this week.  National Football Post has hooked us up with the names of the players who are expected to attend. They aren’t going to be big name stars but guys that are craving a shot in the NFL and may find it in the Jaguars’ competition heavy approach to roster building. Here’s the list of 17 players expected to attend:

  • Ryan Baker, DT
  • Chris Banjo, S
  • Patrick Brown, OT
  • DeMarcko Cosby, TE
  • Kennard Cox, CB
  • Pannel Egboh, DE
  • Stephen Franklin, LB
  • Dan Gerberry, C
  • D.J. Holt LB
  • Tyler Horn, C
  • Jaymar Johnson, WR
  • Jameson Konz, LB
  • James Lee, OT
  • Jerome Raymond, DE
  • Owen Spencer, WR
  • Nick Tow-Arnett, TE
  • Matt Ware, S

While it’s a little weird that NFP reports 18 players but only has names for 17, it’s obvious to see that the Jaguars are trying to rebuild any position they can get their hands on.  Those in the defensive secondary and those on the offensive or defensive lines may have the best opportunity to impress and make the team, though I’m not crossing my fingers that any of these players have hidden talents that have been overlooked before.  These are players who, by and large, have been part of mini-camps, offseason training programs, and practice squads but really haven’t been able to crack the bottom of the roster and earn some game time.
