Ex-Jaguar Cornerback Aaron Ross says that being in Jacksonville for one season was like a “paid vacation”
On the field, Ross started just nine games for the 2-14 Jaguars, battling through injuries and struggling in coverage. He was released in March before re-signing with the Giants on a one-year, $715,000 contract, yet another example of how none of these big-money deals are what they seem.
The vacation is over — and he’s no guarantee to start in New York — but Ross is content to come home.
The new GM Caldwell, new coach Bradley, new assistants, relatively new owner in Shad Khan … and a draft philosophy that no one can put a finger on yet. If they fill a need, which one? In the varied public discourse of West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, do the relatively silent Jags stealthily grab him? Or do they pull off a trade?
Chad Henne has been something of a forgotten man in the Jaguars’ offseason quarterback derby.
Most of the speculation has focused on whether Blaine Gabbert can rebound in his third season and what other quarterback moves the Jaguars plan to make in the NFL Draft later this month.
At the moment, though, Henne is the only other quarterback on the roster besides Gabbert and with the job wide open, he is eager for a shot at winning the starting job.
