Jaguars Fans React To Rashean Mathis Not Returning

It has been announced that long-tenured cornerback and franchise great Rashean Mathis will not be returning to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.  For those of us who remember the great moments that Mathis has brought to the team, it causes a little bit of a twinge in the chest.  His play slipped later in his career, but when Mathis was in his prime there weren’t many better cover corners in the league.

Here we have some of the community’s response:

Most of the response is extremely positive.  Mathis’ career has made him an important part of Jaguar history.  Especially his early years will be remembered fondly.  Great man, great player, great Jaguar.

It always comes to this but I think those that have watched recognize it as the right decision. Of course we now have Nobody playing corner, but then Nobody is irreplaceable and Nobody is perfect! (That is a silly play on words…)

I don’t think Mathis would have been a starting corner anyway. Maybe not even nickel. Dime corners are good and all, but Mathis deserves more than that.
