Mel Kiper came out with his mock draft 2.0 last night and, surprise surprise, he awarded the Jacksonville Jaguars a premium pass rushing talent in Damontre Moore from Texas A&M. Moore is a superb athlete who should be able to make a transition to the NFL almost seamlessly. For a team that had one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL during the 2012 season, it makes sense for Kiper to pick Moore to the Jags.
Of note, the Jags stick with a pass rusher at number two despite West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith remaining on the board. Kiper says,
[The Jaguars] need a guaranteed difference-maker. Moore is that kind of player. I’ve had a pass-rusher as a top need for this franchise going on four years, and Moore checks that off the list. He’s an exceptionally productive defensive end prospect with very good quickness, long arms and elite closing burst as a rusher. He will get to the quarterback, period.
If Moore is that difference maker, then I say full steam ahead! The Jags desperately need help along that defensive line, especially at the end positions.
